@AeroSociety As well as MISREPORTING Thrust's role in Flight, George Cayley's lasting influence 'poisoned the well' of AIR RESISTANCE. Rather than seeing this attribute of air as RESISTANCE TO FALLING, the entire Aero community has been taught to view Air Resistance as a 'drain on Power'.

Trivia - the Hughes XH-17 flying crane rotors measured 130 ft- the largest ever built. Impressive but impractical, it was supposed to carry tanks but not too far: max range was 40 miles (not mentioning the reliability issues due to vibrations...)
