The core motivating factor was first solving two major issues our users have encountered over the course of the year: 1. Network stability 2. Transaction costs Because our game logic runs extensively onchain, some 2-6M transactions per day, any consequence of the two items I outlined above result in a significant negative impact to our players. Our players are very driven by financial incentives. And we saw transaction fees eating upwards of 30% of player revenue. Also, because earnings potential scales with capital investment into assets, but the fees do not, it raised the floor on the minimum asset portfolio size to be able to operate profitably in-game. We lost probably 30-40% of our smaller users because they lost money playing simply due to the tx fee issue. This new network will reduce those fees by 99% (pure function of expected market cap vs. Solana market cap). And we have the added benefit of earning fees as a validator, and being to use that income stream to subsidize player transactions. On the network stability side, this has more to do with congestion. We've built through any downtime Solana experienced, and I've been a staunch defender of Solana in those cases. Part of the growing pains. But with the high congestion we experienced, there were many instances of players taking actions in game that just didn't settle. Imagine playing a game, clicking on an action to move, and nothing happens. Or you go to shoot at another fleet, and nothing happens. It's a terrible experience for the players. So with our dedicated rollout focusing on Star Atlas running on z.ink first, our users are always first class citizens.
