@luhelminger Super interesting, thanks! I didn't mean to be negative in my observation, and I am certainly very optimistic about the future. I guess what I wanted to say is that a concretely efficient NI MPC à la MrNISC would find a myriad of real-life use cases already today

@cryptodavidw why?It's basically vector y = ax + b.Useful in many contexts.Can be done fairly easy with OT (e.g. to get input labels in BMR16 garbled circuits),or GCs and of course w/ sharings - like many other primitives.Many cool apps call for LE so giving it a name is not so bad IMHO

@viv_boop @cursive_team @andrewlu_ Yes! For 2PC: 1 msgs client->server + 1 msg server->client x2 (at start & end of compute). Circuits are arithmetic BMR16 / Yao + FreeXOR + Half gates or a mix, produced via a simple JS DSL (WIP). Auctions are my main use case for MPC (small M) as they are quite generic

@weikeng or you can do the inverse FFT of the G1 crs once at setup time (for a given domain size) and then a commitment is basically a MSM of the evaluations (= polynomial in lagrange form) with that vector. Faster than interpolating evaluations to get the coefficients and then commit

@zksecurityXYZ I was mind blown by this paper when it came out 🙏. Very useful for OT extensions too. And one of the very few protocols that allow the OT sender to verify the receiver's input (e.g. commitment to an n-bit string signed by a trusted issuer). Awesome

@ProfNoahGian My trick: LATitude ~ LATeral, that is "left and right" so horizontal. LONGitude ~ LONG as in "long distance", that is "in front" so vertical. 🤷‍♂️

@lastmjs TBH it all boils down with the narrative of "ndependent node providers" vs big cloud- custom HW + small corps vs consumer HW + big tech. It works as long as there are enough incentives to build/maintain/buy the HW and few incentives for big actors to play the "majority" game

@alinush Great post, thank you for this. I like to think of the L_i(0) (which can be computed given only the x_i in T without having to compute L_i(x) and evaluate at 0) as a way to convert s_i "interpolating" shares into additive shares by multiplying each share i by its L_i

@cryptodavidw Nobody likes that, it's annoying AF. OTOH you can see that as an imperfect, naive attempt to raise awareness of some important issues that have currently no widespread understanding/solution.Ppl complain about speed bumps as well - imperfect, annoying, until smth better arises

@dominic_w @VitalikButerin AFAICT the proof here is created browser-side with Polygon Miden (and it's a very simple and therefore fast one) only verification is done by the contract. Usually the prover is the bottleneck, not the verifier. I wonder why it would cost thousands $$$ on ETH or anywhere else
