@howardlutnick @howardlutnick: Great job promoting high-tech manufacturing in the USA. But, a key ingredient to US leadership is high-tech R&D by US small businesses, whose innovations propel large business. Please sign off on the CHIPS Metrology SBIRs--we've been waiting for a full year now.

The CHIPS Metrology SBIR is critical to ensuring US leadership in semiconductor technology innovation. Phase II of our award has been delayed for months waiting on final sign off by @howardlutnick and @CommerceGov. These grants are low cost but have a HUGE impact on innovation!

This is an existing award that simply needs to be signed-off on its next budget period. Further delay not only hurts us as an American small business, but also risks the US losing out to foreign competitors in development of this type of technology. Please get this moving!

After more than 6 months now, we are still waiting for the sign-off on Phase II so that we can finish this project. This would not only support us as a high-tech US small business, but would also deliver new tools to advance semiconductor R&D and fabrication in the US.

My small business was awarded a CHIPS Metrology SBIR in 2024 to develop new tech to measure microscopic properties of advanced semiconductors--critical for boosting US competitiveness. Phase II should have started last summer but we are still waiting. @CommerceGov @howardlutnick

@JayhawkTalk Good call!

@ShaLGW @OdedRechavi I am praying for peace to be restored, for protection for you specifically and the many others I know in Israel, and for comfort as many are grieving horrific losses. It's hard to even imagine what you are feeling and facing. I trust that God is still good though, so I'll pray.

Why Do We Always Seek to Justify Our Actions? We have a pressing need to justify our actions. Think about it. Hardwired into us is the desire to be in the right, no matter what. We cannot stand the thought of admitting that we have lied, cheated, stolen, hated, or slandered, because the moment we confess these wrongs, we confess that we are standing outside the house of justification. So instead of confessing our sins, we make excuses for them or recast them as “the right thing to do.” Why? So we can declare ourselves justified in the eyes of God and our neighbor. So deep is our desire to be in the right that we will do every wrong to make it seem otherwise. Our greatest fear is revealing who we really are. What we don’t realize, however, is that our greatest freedom actually begins when we confess who we really are. When we un-name our renaming of sin, we open up the possibility of true righteousness—and along with it, true peace and forgiveness. When we say, “I am a thief. I am a slanderer. I am a murderer, adulterer, bigot,” we strip away our self-justification and admit that we stand naked and filthy before the only true judge of our actions, God himself. At that moment we are exposed to an astonishing truth: that God doesn’t want sin to be sin either. He too wants us to be righteous. What he does, however, is not rename our evils or excuse our sins; he removes them. Or to say it more accurately, he transfers them. He takes our lying and cheating and all other wrongs and wraps them round the body of a substitute. He says, “Jesus, take these away. Do for your brothers and sisters what they cannot do for themselves.” And he does. He assumes ownership of our wrongdoing. He willingly becomes our scapegoat. He says, “These transgressions are mine. All evil is mine, past, present, future. It is no longer yours. And I won’t ever give it back.” But Christ outdoes himself. Not content merely to pay the penalty for our crimes, he invests us with the riches of his own righteousness. We assume his identity, wear his clothes, are called by his name, are treated as royalty. Jesus dies, and we in him, and so our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Who he is, we are, and who we are, he is. Is Jesus perfect? So are we. Is Jesus holy and righteous and pleasing to his Father? So are we. Is Jesus the heir of heaven, the Father’s child, the beloved of God? So are we. It is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us.

The man on the middle cross said I could come.

So much of our concept of identity is rooted in our sense of belonging. While we are each unique, we have a deep yearning to be part of something bigger. A story from nearly 3000 years ago reveals how our desire to belong can be fully satisfied. Watch: youtu.be/1o6EC_eKeks

Identity is critical for understanding how we fit with the world around us. Given its importance, do we know our identity? And how secure are we in our identity? I tried to dig into these questions last Sunday. Check it out if you're curious: youtu.be/-RPfa6wgr2k

Philosopher Simon Blackburn said that the Golden Rule can be "found in some form in almost every ethical tradition.” But Jesus defined the Golden Rule slightly differently than others before him. What's the difference? Check out my sermon from Sunday: youtu.be/hQUGTqGLeFE
