Consideration of mortgage and rent moratorium needed urgently in Aotearoa as jobs are being impacted NOW - especially vulnerable and non permanent workers
2/3 of NYC residents are renters. Now that New York State has issued a MORTGAGE moratorium, we must also enact a RENT moratorium to prevent mass displacement. Relief and protection from displacement shouldn’t just be for homeowners and the wealthy. It should be for everyone.

NZ has a UBI. It just happens to start at 65. Don’t let the wealth of some peversely undermine a safety net that means we have among the lowest rates of elderly poverty in the world. Don’t introduce hoops. Universalise baseline support for all, regardless of age. Tax wealth.
Everyone deserves to age with dignity. If we’re concerned about some senior citizens being too wealthy while receiving superannuation we should introduce a tax on wealth + an income tax bracket for those earning over $100K, not dismantle our universal superannuation programme
