one thing i do really wish, on reflection, is that gooseworx made human jax just a woman (with no fanfare or anything, it just Is Like That). obviously subtlety is good and all, but i think the contrast of the two possible people her mind could be would be much stronger.
the most fascinating part of this show, to me, is the way it really isnt subtle but, unlike a lot of other art , it is a strength rather than a weakness. there are, by design, no physical consequences in the world, so emotions become the battlefield of the show by necessity.
making it more explicit more DIRECTLY taps into how community and safety can counteract trauma. obviously this is just my own personal preference for storytelling, though; i really do believe that being overt can be more emotionally devastating in situations like this.
