For me the heartbreak is over the idea that Larian can never change their mind about dlc or a definitive edition bc they no longer own the rights to the characters... or am I wrong about that? I have over 1k hours in this game + ea so to say I'm invested is an understatement lol

@Cheeseyboiiiiii Oh, I should mention that their past definitive editions were free even though they added new content and reworked quests, as I understand it. I don't know if hasbro had anything to do with it but wouldn't be surprised if that contributed to the decision.

My criticisms of the way act 3 is structured is born out of love for the game. I think bg3 deserves a definitive edition even if it doesn't exactly need one. It makes me sad to think my final impression of act 3 is that it's the weakest act when it should be the strongest

every time i see an aa wife argue that he isn't abusive bc he's nice as long as you agree with him about everything and never try to argue with him i get genuinely sad for them and hope they're okay. like im not trying to clown on them it really makes me sad lol

@p00say_fish @L3ONIARA so the game isn't ambiguous at all in the case of astarion. shadowheart, karlach, and wyll also display attraction for more than one gender outside of the player. people can head canon what they like but they are canonically queer and not just "playersexual" as people like to say

@p00say_fish @L3ONIARA there is. he and lae'zel with have sex if you don't romance him. he mentions being attracted to wyll. he can proposition alfira if she spends a night at your camp, but she turns him down. he flirts with shadowheart and gale but they shut it down and shadowheart makes fun of him.

@ghoulbrainz It also contradicts the source material where he says he came close to losing everything, to losing himself in the ritual. And the dialogue option about there being nothing left of the person he was if he ascends vs the one about being glad he stayed himself if he doesn't ascend.

astarion starts off as someone deeply cynical about the nature of ppl & the world. he believes he can either be someone who oppresses others or be oppressed himself. he's motivated by fear but also by spite in that he desires to inflict cruelty upon a world that was cruel to him

i think astarion is free from a mask in both endings. if he ascends he no longer masks the ugly, cruel & twisted parts of himself. he's free to revel in them & express them openly. if he doesn't ascend he no longer masks his vulnerability & humanity & allows himself to feel them

all the ooc headcanons about him saying he loves you and thanking u for seeing something good in him and something more he could be when omeluum is right there make me so sick

astarion fans out here thinking he would say stuff like you brought my dead heart back to life i'll always be here my love we have forever these few months with you are the counterweight to centuries of misery you're incredible when we all know only omeluum would say these things

it's crazy to me that ppl are calling the idea of astarion doing something nice for his partner erasure when that "astarion was supposed to be straight bc of female pronouns in the devnotes" exists. like

also someone giving their partner flowers doesn't make them a good person. i am not personally into traditionally romantic gestures but astarion canonically takes a cheesy little love quiz bc he knows his partner wants to. so he is not above that kind of thing lol

"astarion's entire personality literally is about how he isn't a good person" is just as reductive as saying wyll and karlach's "entire personalities are about how they are good people." neither of these things are true & they would all be very boring characters if they were lol

@L3ONIARA I'm sorry people have made you feel that a fictional character you like would hate you. I don't think that's true. :(

@barcuswoot I realize I shouldn't have responded at all bc you are just on your own twitter minding your business but sometimes i just reply to things w/o stopping to consider that no one asked for my thoughts or that discussion w strangers wasn't invited. so im really sorry
