The idea that we must achieve perfect urban nirvana before we’re allowed to build anything decent is how countries stay stuck. You don’t fix a messy house by refusing to clean any room until every single one is spotless. You start somewhere. Sometimes that somewhere has jet bridges and decent coffee. Also, the dramatic “we are a danger to ourselves” line is doing a lot of heavy lifting. India has problems, nobody’s denying that. But pretending that shiny new airports are the problem instead of one small part of the solution is just elegant cope dressed up as insight. Classic case of “I saw one bad thing, therefore all good things are fake.”

Saw some video of a Mumbai beach covered in trash. The trash is coming from the sea during high tide. Not because people are dumping trash on the beach as many think. This trash is being dumped into the sea by rivers and canals especially during the monsoon. This issue is a world wide issue. Beaches from LA to SG have the same issue during storms and rainy season. The solution is in installing river and canal runoff nets (storm water netting system) as done by some countries. And ensuring the rivers and canals aren't used as a dump. Below images: 1) California beach with trash 2) Singapore beach with trash 3) Storm water netting system 4) River netting system to catch trash The point is, this trashy beaches are a problem world over after storms, rains or during the rainy seasons. Some of the anti-India propaganda machinary is already taking pics from Mumbai and making it "Only in India it is like this. India is a sh1t hole." My post is not to justify such unclean beaches or the trash. But to let Indians know this is a world wide problem and there are some solutions that are being tried by some countries.

Capital is Becoming a National Security Issue 🏛️ 1. The US now screens outbound #capital, not just inbound. Effective January 2025, the "Reverse #CFIUS" program restricts American persons and entities from investing into China, Hong Kong, and Macau — particularly where those investments touch #AI, #quantum, or #semiconductor technologies. The direction of the dollar is now geopolitically regulated. 2. Chinese FDI into the US has collapsed — by design. Chinese #FDI in the US has fallen from a peak of $46 billion in 2016 to under $4 billion in 2024, driven by capital controls in #China and US laws like #FIRRMA and the #CHIPS Act. Capital flows are now a battlefield, not just a balance sheet. 3. Capital allocation is being explicitly politicized. Geopolitical competition and the growing politicization of capital allocation — including a fiscal dominance trend in some markets — are intensifying, reshaping the contours of the global financial system. The era of "money has no flag" is over. 4. Countries are increasingly lending and borrowing within political blocs. Financial fragmentation implies countries are lending and borrowing within politically aligned blocs, reducing exposure to rival ones. These #patterns are not limited to expected #bilateral relationships like #Russia or China vs. the West, but reflect a broader, systemic shift — accelerated sharply since Russia's invasion of #Ukraine. 5. CFIUS penalized over $70M in deals in just two years — and is getting stricter. In 2023–2024, CFIUS imposed over $70 million in monetary #penalties and blocked or delayed numerous transactions. Trump's "America First Investment Policy" mandates tighter controls over adversarial nations and expands CFIUS's authority to include investments into greenfields and farmland. Who owns the land, the chip fab, or the port is now a national security question. Capital is no longer just an economic resource — it's leverage, and governments are treating it accordingly.
