personally, after Lighter’s Q2 call, it feels like Lighter is entering its next big phase now. the team is actually implementing what they talked about before, shipping it piece by piece so, some notes Q2 numbers were strong again, $131B volume, $7.2M revenue, ~$740M avg OI, 142M trades, and 30% 28d retention (which is honestly pretty good) then the tech side, still the strongest part of Lighter. they’re constantly improving the platform, scaling the prover network (zk proving stack is probably become one of the largest high-throughput proving systems in the world), and pushing serious throughput (talking hundreds of millions of orders per day, lower latency, better execution) Robinhood is the other huge piece here. obviously, this is not just a logo partnership, it’s distribution + revshare + tradfi / defi convergence. Lighter gets access through Robinhood Wallet for non-US users first, with more possible later if the US regulatory path for perp DEXes gets clearer. the team is clearly going after both crypto-native and non-crypto-native distribution, so if you’re thinking about integrating serious decentralized trading rails, this is probably the door to watch regulation is another big thing here. they’re deep in the CFTC process for decentralized perps. for example, Kalshi already has a regulated venue, but that’s a cex. Lighter is trying to bring a similar path to decentralized perps on tokenomics, worth repeating the new buybacks-to-burns strategy. buybacks now turn into supply reduction, treasury is being managed more carefully, and the goal is to increase long-term ecosystem value what’s next for Q3? more collateral, tokenized assets, Lighter EVM, more Lighter Domains for partner-specific execution environments, and a big options push. the tokenized asset angle is especially important here because the goal is to let equities, gold, BTC, LLP and other assets sit inside one margin system and be used across perps, options and yield overall, this is how I see where Lighter is heading. one place where you can trade perps, use tokenized assets as collateral, eventually trade options, earn yield, and still have zk verification + Ethereum settlement underneath, i.e basically, a full-stack onchain financial platform
