Trump knew no one cut a “350 ft gash” in the reflecting pool. He knew it was a botched job. He knew he spent $15M of our dollars for nothing. He invented the lie anyway. He pushed it. And he had his cronies charge an innocent man. All so he could save face. It’s not surprising. But it is disgusting.

Trump didn’t want to admit that he personally hired an unqualified contractor who screwed up the Pool and cost taxpayers millions. So instead he had the hack Fox host who he installed as US attorney indict an innocent man so he could blame him and others for his own incompetence.

When a malignant narcissist is humiliated—by embarrassing himself in an interview, or predicting the demise of a movie because of a Black actress and watching it be successful—he receives a severe injury to his ego that must be patched up through grandiose projection. He obsesses, perseverates about revenge and picks a target to use as an object for his sadism which restores his self-image of dominance and omnipotence. He has chosen, of all people, Anne Hathaway. His line of attack is that she is a “bird brain,” a “robot,” a “marionette,” “doesn’t think for herself,” has a “script,” and is an “NPC” (non-player character). This dehumanizing, misogynist rhetoric is purely designed to restore order in his mind by locating his scapegoat as a different species altogether. To bolster this narrative he has given his own script to his personal paid actor Gad Saad, a revolting propagandist dedicated to deleting empathy from humanity because Elon has none and finds it inconvenient in others. All of this because Anne Hathaway starred in a movie Elon hated months before it was finished. Elon Musk is existentially dangerous to all of us. There is NO BOTTOM to what he will do once he’s finally cornered by his own hubris and disorders.

The world has never been in more danger. Three of the most powerful & influential people on the planet are failing malignant narcissists. This is not a quirk of their personalities. It defines them: narcissism, psychopathy, paranoia & sadism. Elon is losing his money—and his connection to reality. Putin is losing to Ukraine—and the loyalty of his people. Trump is losing to Iran—and at everything else. Malignant narcissism is a bottomless pit. These men have no morals, no empathy, and no humanity. No transgression of laws or norms will stop them. No amount of bloodshed will appeal to their “better angels”—because they have none. These are the ultimate dead-enders—messianic demagogues with nothing inside. Malignant narcissists don’t believe anyone deserves to enjoy life, or even to exist without them, so they always try to take the world with them when the end comes near. Putin can’t win. Trump can’t win. Elon’s money is a mirage. The question is whether the world can prevent a global catastrophe while they destroy themselves with their own grandiose delusions. In the long run, for humanity to survive, we must find a way to stop elevating the most dangerous psychopathologies to the most powerful positions in the world.

A guy paid Netflix $263 last year. He watched maybe 40 hours of it. Most nights he opened the app, scrolled, found nothing, and closed his laptop. His sister — she used to work on Netflix's product team — came over for dinner, grabbed his laptop, and spent 15 minutes in Settings. By the time she was done, his homepage looked nothing like it did an hour before. Trailers stopped auto-blasting. The picture on his TV sharpened. Categories he'd never seen appeared. His "For You" row actually matched what he liked. He said: "How did I not know any of this existed?" She said: "Because Netflix doesn't want you to. Every setting I just changed makes the app work better for you and worse for their numbers." Here's what she did 🧵

Notice how it's always "America was founded on Christian principles!" until it comes to welcoming the immigrant, helping the poor, feeding the hungry, bringing healthcare to the sick, forgiving debts, caring for our planet, laying down our swords, or loving our neighbors.

He fomented an insurrection. He botched a pandemic. He stole classified documents. He committed every type of fraud known to man. He is compromised. He protects pedophiles. He's a 34-time convicted felon. He's an adjudicated rapist, who paid his victim $5.6M so far. He monetizes the presidency and weaponizes justice. He's lawless. He obstructs justice at every turn. He lies as he breathes. He's narcissistic. He's psychopathic. He's paranoid. He's sadistic. I can go on. YET - no matter how bad we know he is, and no matter how bad the things we know he did are, remember this: Some of the things we don't yet know he did, are even worse.

The greatest piece of political propaganda in our time was convincing millions of people that caring for others and the planet was somehow a threat to America.

One of the most blatant forms of hypocrisy of our time is when Christians hold all ordinary people accountable to the most rigid moral standards, all while holding themselves and their preferred politicians accountable to no standards at all.

The moral alteration in an unthinkable expanse of people who call this place home has been stunning in its velocity and stomach-turning in its depths. The worst part is that we can’t reach them in the ways reasonable human beings can be reached. Before Fox News, we could meet the people around us on the common ground of our shared faith in Jesus, our respect for the Constitution, the clarity of objective truth, or shared compassion for vulnerable people. Now, they no longer have use or tolerance for such things. An Air Force drone contract to a startup the princelings took public through a golf course company they own a piece of. The Army’s largest drone motor order ever, to a company where Don Jr. sits on the board and holds millions in stock. A $24 million Pentagon robotics contract to the company that employs Eric as Chief Strategy Advisor. A stake in the largest undeveloped tungsten deposit on earth, in Kazakhstan, backed by $1.6 billion in US government support. Jared’s fund seeded with $2 billion from the Saudi crown prince, now $6.2 billion, 99% of it foreign money from Gulf governments. Over $110 million in fees collected from the Saudis alone. He negotiates American foreign policy with the governments that pay him. $2.3 billion from crypto ventures their father regulates. More than a million people bought in and lost $2.3 billion. The money didn’t grow. It simply moved from the subjects pockets to the crown’s coffers. And the next one is already drafted. A proposed ATF rule that will allow guns to be shipped straight to your front door. The government’s own estimate is 3.3 million home gun deliveries a year. Don Jr. sits on the board of the online gun megastore built to cash in. He holds 300,000 shares. And that’s only the fraction they’ve allowed us to see. Not one subpoena served. Not one search executed. Why hide anything when you own the investigators? Me? They searched a laptop for six years. Federal prosecutors. Grand juries. Subpoena power. Congressional hearings. They found nothing. I made about $200k a year selling paintings when my Dad was President, and they made my paintings part of an impeachment inquiry. For six years they’ve asked Where’s Hunter? What about the laptop? Wrong questions. The right one is 250 years old. Does America belong to a family? They’ve given their answer. Long live the King.

If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, ballouts, legal protections, and trade barriers to survive? And when ordinary people ask for help, why is it suddenly called socialism?

This is fascinating to me, because beyond the surface level it illuminates why conservatives are often so full of shit. The baseline here is that there's a heatwave, and Mamdani asked New Yorkers to adjust their thermostats to help the grid. This is regular practice in red and blue areas of the country. Daniel posts a defiant "I'm not gonna do what mommy tells me!" style post. He surely thinks he's a very clever boy here. Now if the message is "This is a free country, and I love my AC, and by god it's my house and no government bureaucrat can force me to change", then fine. Sure. But there is no law being proposed here. No police are bursting down your door demanding to check your thermostat. It's a request from a community leader, a polite ask that you engage in a very small pro-social sacrifice. You would think conservatives would understand the idea that local communities should pull together in times of need. For the 'common good', perhaps. You'd think. And that they'd be happy if no government force was involved, if they could act merely because they had strong moral character and believed in private charitable action. "Nobody should ever ask anyone to sacrifice for the common good, even if it's just a polite request" is just dipshit nihilism. But I suspect Daniel doesn't actually believe in those conservative ideas. Or if he does, they're a distant second to the true guiding star of conservative thought: owning the libs. Given the chance to help people or own the libs, conservatives will always own the libs. Given the chance to demonstrate strong principles or own the libs, they'll always abandon the principle to own the libs. The actual philosophy of the right is merely "We hate the left". And it's sad.
