SAAS companies don't need to make "best x tools" roundups. They can make a landing page highlighting how their tool is relevant for the use case and don't need to cover any other software. Highest overall page authority wins on these types of SERP.
High-quality content is such a strange term because what does that even mean? Everyone has a different interpretation of what high-quality content is. Saying “make high-quality content” is the writer's version of saying “make it pop”.
If you can get a page ranking #1 by building links to it, you'll often continue to get links naturally afterward as people tend to link to the top ranking result. And then it continues to climb in rankings and traffic for related terms. It's a flywheel effect.

Topical authority has nothing to do with how much content you cover on a specific topic! It's about how well you rank for specific topics. Content coverage is just step 1. Covering all subtopics even with high quality content does not automatically make you an "authority"
The BEST 10x result SEO tactics are ALL SO SIMPLE. You will facepalm after applying it. Guaranteed!
For SEO: Creating a page that has a high enough quality that someone would link to it (as a backlink) should be the ultimate metric of quality. Increase the average link per post ratio. Build the growth flywheel topically.
You don't need original ideas if you can outrank the pages currently in the SERPS. This is one of the foundational reasons why the SEO industry is worth billions of dollars.
