The Romans and French speakers also colonised and conquered the land so it's not stolen, just made up from all the groups who settled and ruled there speaking and imposing their own languages.

Since it stems from describing muscles spasms and movements from conditions like cerebral palsy it still is used to mean lose control, go crazy, freak out, uncoordinated etc.

@Tzn747 @macabremotif How is that hypocritical? I literally said "idrc if the word is used but they aren't equivalent etymologically" which is a fact. The root for "spaz" is derogatory, the root for "fag" as in cigarettes is not.

"Spaz" comes from a word describing actual medical conditions, so no matter how much its use has evolved it is still rooted in the description, and later mockery, of muscle conditions. Idrc if the word is used but they aren't equivalent etymologically.
