You're not wrong at all! But the framing is important here. If we compare token costs from the usual chat services to the DGX Spark devices, it doesn't add up. These also do not necessarily have the most competitive price-to-performance for training models compared to workstations. However, the real intention of the DGX Spark platform is to serve as a plug-and-play NVIDIA AI dev box. One recent customers of ours for example was a university research lab. They can't just buy a Claude subscription and call it day because their institution didn't allow it for security concerns. They also can't just mangle together a workstation with dual 3090s from ebay for obvious reasons. DGX Spark is perfect here.

Short answer: Not really, but it's important to understand why. The ASUS Ascent GX10's base price is lower, yes, but that's because what you're looking at is a lower storage configuration. They come in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB; the former being where you see $3.5k coming from. As a heads up, you probably aren't going to see 3.5K GX10 1TBs for a while starting soon. The MSRP, as well as our price, got bumped up to $4K the other day (centralcomputer.com/asus-ascent-gx…).
