#Islamismus ist nicht Religion. Islamismus ist nicht Kultur. Islamismus ist eine politische Ideologie, die den Islam nicht als persönliches Glaubensbekenntnis und eine Beziehung zwischen Gott und Mensch versteht, sondern ihn auf Politik und Gesellschaft ausweiten will – wie es etwa den Taliban in Afghanistan oder dem s.g. „Islamischen Staat“ mit seinem „Kalifat“ zeitweilig in Syrien und Irak gelang. In Bezug auf Abdul B. müsste man eher von Dschihadismus sprechen, denn das Ziel der Errichtung der Herrschaft des Islam über andere wurde mit terroristisch-gewaltsamen Mitteln verfolgt. Wie man es dreht und wendet: Es ist ein Missbrauch von Religion. Nun haben #Islamisten natürlich ein Interesse daran, dass ihnen möglichst wenig bis kein Widerstand entgegen gebracht wird. Deshalb inszenieren sie sich als Opfer von Rassismus, Kolonialismus, etc. Daher versuchen sie Kritik und Widerstand gegen ihre Ziele als „antimuslimischen Rassismus“ zu framen. Dabei ist zu betonen: Ja, diesen gibt es und er ist beispielsweise in der AfD endemisch und trifft Muslime, die mit dem Projekt des Islamismus absolut nichts zu tun haben und nicht zu tun haben wollen – ja, oftmals selbst unter diesem leiden. Wenn es uns nicht gelingt, diese Dinge auseinander zu halten, haben Extremisten – egal ob von rechter oder eben von religiös-extremistischer Seite – leichtes Spiel.

APPLEBAUM: Trump administration wants to do business with Russia, and war in Ukraine is an obstacle. They treat it like trivial problem that could be solved if Zelenskyy would just step aside. It’s profound arrogance, ignorance, and hubris all wrapped into one. This is a really big war. It’s a war about European civilization, the same civilization they claim to care about. It’s about sovereignty. Do Ukrainians not deserve sovereignty? This is illustrative of the deep shallowness of Trump administration and their inability to spend even five minutes trying to understand what these conflicts around the world are actually about.
