@jessradio @lauraconti_au I agree Jess. The media have helped bring so many voices of survivors to light. Even COVID responses to being locked down with an abusive partner resulted in a policy changing debate. More needed…always!

@jessradio @lauraconti_au MBCP’s vary so much in their quality, making them an opportunity when delivered by skilful facilitators who support the group effectively challenging each other. Individual treatment that makes it psychologically safe to acknowledge fear and shame can work well, but is expensive!

@jessradio @lauraconti_au There are also very clear answers here. All behaviour has logic, however distorted, damaging and selfish that logic is. Uncovering the controllers logic has, in my experience, led to profound behavioural change and a willingness to shift attitudes and underlying schema.

Why, when and how men rape: A study in South Africa among men aged 18-49 finds 27.6% have raped a woman. Most were motivated by sexual entitlement, also boredom & ‘entertainment’, & as punishment against girlfriends and other women. Most had first raped girls/women as teenagers.
