In the US ADD/ADHD is overdiagnosed. In Nigeria doctors can't recognize or diagnose it. The best you'll get is a referral to a psychotherapist who will send you home with antidepressants. Third world countries are the worst place to have ADHD.
For ADD/ADHD adults who can't access medication. You might want to look up: Open Focus; the attention-training technique developed by neuroscientist Dr. Les Fehmi. Benefits include, improved attention flexibility, improved relaxation and nervous system balance and more.
ADD makes me seem laid back or nonchalant. Truth is, it’s how I conserve energy when even simple conversations take more effort than people realize.
People think ADD/ADHD is laziness. Most times, it’s doing the same things at double the mental cost.
This isn’t a diagnosis. It’s a way to notice patterns especially in places where professional support isn't accessible.
In places where ADD/ADHD is rarely diagnosed, patterns matter more than labels. brain fog, Restlessness, forgetfulness, frequent burnout, heavy mental effort, mental noise at rest, deep focus only when interested, are common markers people notice.
