Thanks to the LA Museum directors and philanthropic leaders who joined us to welcome home Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, chair of the National Endowment of the Arts. "We are at a particular historic moment," the @NEAArtsChair said.
In conversation with @kresgefdn CEO Rip Rapson, @NEAArtsChair Dr. Jackson said, "the arts are intrinsically important. Full stop." She stressed equal access to the arts and "the importance of all people having the opportunity to live artful lives."
Our Advisory Board Chair and Annenberg Foundation Executive Director Cinny Kennard, at our Distinguished Speakers event today, addressed leaders in philanthropy and the arts: "This is the time for all of us to step up and lift this city and this country." @ckennard @NEAArtsChair
Dr. Jackson the @NEAArtsChair said at our event today: "the arts are most powerful when...they are woven into the fabric of lives." That's why she champions art + health, arts + infrastructure, education, economic development etc. "People don't live in sectors or siloes!"
For the arts, "it's a time of planning, a time of action and reflection all at the same time" @NEAArtsChair Maria Rosario Jackson told us today. "I'm mindful of the challenges that lie ahead but I'm extremely positive...now is the time to dream big and not stay in our lanes."
