@NatSciChannel @NxtDeterio @Peak4651 Iirc the idea at the time was to make a sort of inbetween morph from Camarasaurus and what is now Giraffatitan, so the missing bones are sculpted partially in reference to the existing material but also partially based on the other two. Not exact matches, but similar

@NatSciChannel @NxtDeterio @Peak4651 The top one isn’t chimeric, the original material was found in association but spent about a century erroneously being referred to Brontosaurus. This skull at DMNS is rearranged with the missing pieces sculpted. You can see a lot of what’s original on the actual mount.

@Pinguterra I think the idea of beaked diplodocids is an educated guess based on the multiple teeth shed together, which this paper describes as being a different mechanism. It’s not a totally outlandish idea but until more concrete evidence emerges, it should be taken as speculative.
