Nearly five months after this shit, I’m ready to be active again on this account. A lot has changed for me. So many good things, such as certainty in my future career path, having a structure inside my life that I enjoy being in, picking up a ton of hobbies like instruments, games, the gym, and just building relationships with people I enjoy being around and learn lots from. The entire premises in which you live your life on can change in the blink of an eye, and that’s exactly what happened to me. I now look back at what I wrote here, and I think about how much of a pleasure it is to be frustrated about something I care about. It’s so cool to care, and it’s even cooler to do what you want. Perhaps yea I’ve forgotten about the frustrations of closely following an incompetent Lakers team. But that’s no longer enough of a reason for me to cut one of the ways I received tons of engagement, interacted with other people, and spent time around the NBA, which is, news flash, something I really enjoy. So, enough of the yap… I’m back.

I’m going to be fully honest and real here about something. I am a college student, who made this account to express my opinions for, and interact with those that share similar passions as me. It started off with music, then meteorology, and for several months now, Lakers basketball. Watching, investing time in, and actively supporting the Lakers for the last three or so months on this account has negatively impacted my studying, social life, and mental health. In the last couple weeks or so, I had this epiphany about how I haven’t been ‘playing hard’ for my own life. So, I stepped into a different space and updated my protocols. Within this new space, watching the Lakers play this week has made me realize that the amount of time I spent time watching and covering them from my perspective, and how it’s significantly reduced my performance in life. The Lakers are an uninspiring and frankly lame team overall for close to half a decade, and I aspire to do great things in life. Surrounding myself with, and dedicating time to keeping up with such a product stands against much of what I say I stand for. That said, I’m making the choice to no longer be active on this account about Lakers basketball. I know this response may seem emotionally skewed, given the Lakers JUST lost, but I’ve been considering this for a month or so. I’d like to expand my passions to beyond basketball, as the Lakers aren’t giving me any sort of opportunity to express creativity - the main reason I leveraged this account. Thanks to all the basketball debaters, Lakers account allies, and respectable individuals I’ve interacted with in this now ending run. Even the haters too. It’s seriously time for me to move onto better things, and to find l l ways to improve in places where I, and perhaps even you if you stand similarly to me, can actually make a difference. Ultimately, the time commitment has been much more than what works with me, while the Lakers continue to put up a negligible product on the floor for half a decade. If things change, maybe I’ll come around with a healthier relationship to basketball. But, for now, this is a farewell. For the betterment of myself, my goals, and those around me.
