The existing vicious cycle speeds up: inflation increases, rich people's assets increase in price, living standards fall further & faster for the bottom 50%.

But here we're talking about a startup founder who gets lucky enough to build a high-value business and then sells out. It's pretty unusual to retain large numbers of shares in that situation, so CGT will usually be payable.

The proposed wealth tax is based on people with assets in excess of £10m, not just billionaires. 3. Do you understand the point of the example?

@TomCatonthePiss @spirconi @TonyWard867811 Exactly. The founder has (personal) assets in the form of company shares. The founder is therefore liable for personal wealth tax based on the value of those shares.

@WhightChris @TonyWard867811 If he genuinely cared about the working class, he'd be talking about inflation. That's what makes those with assets richer, and those who have to pay for things out of a salary poorer. That's the dynamic that needs addressing. Oh, and his numbers don't work.

@CoinCornerDanny I think it's gotten worse. It's just raw emotion at this stage.

Two incomes now. Your parents managed on one. And you're still further behind than they ever were. That's not you failing. That's theft. Gary Stevenson stands there blaming the rich. Tax the millionaires. Tax the billionaires. The crowd roars. He's lying to you by omission. Inequality isn't the cause. It's the third thing down the chain. He talks about the symptoms all day and never once touches what causes them. Here's what he won't say. Since 2000 the pound lost 69% of its value. They tripled the money. It poured into their assets and drained your wages. That's the primary. That's the source. Everything he complains about flows from it. And he walks straight past it. Every time. Now watch his cure make it worse. Tax every billionaire to zero and it funds Britain six months. Then they're gone, the tax base rots, and the government prints even harder to fill the hole. More printing. More debasement. The gap gets wider. The very thing he swears he's fighting, inequality, his own fix makes worse. He'd feed the disease and call it the cure. The rich aren't robbing you. The money is. Gary points at the smoke so you never find the fire. Either he can't see it, or he won't say it. Look up. Look at the pound melting in your hand. @mshodl @PeterMcCormack @stephanlivera University tuition fees are capped at around $13,000 a year. The rest is accommodation and living expenses. Depends where you go, but £60k ($80k) for three years is probably a little on the low side overall.

Confused about BIP110 forking dynamics? This thread will explain in 11 steps. 1. BIP110 and Standard miners share the same chain until a rule disagreement appears, which could happen if the lock-in threshold gets met (unlikely IMO) or later when "mandatory signalling" begins.

@Mick_McRoo @stephanlivera Miners rejecting BIP-110 also telegraphs that soft forks will fail without hash rate and strong consensus. If miners allow a soft fork with such low hash rate and consensus to succeed, they open the soft fork door to every other vocal minority that wants to push its own agenda.
