Is modern-day leftism in the United States collapsing into untreated mental illness (I mean no disrespect toward anyone facing real psychological challenges)? How does someone like Hasan Piker, who unleashes sexist, ageist, anti‑immigrant, and plainly racist insults at a woman for opposing communism, become a celebrated voice for leftist and socialist Democrats who are now winning primaries and elections? How does a man who boasts about supporting terrorists and the Houthis in Yemen, whose slogan includes “Curse be upon the Jews,” insist he is not antisemitic? How does someone who openly praises Hezbollah, says he would vote for Hamas, and believes the three thousand Americans murdered on 9/11 somehow “deserved it,” hold any relevance in American electoral politics? How does a wealthy, self‑indulgent millionaire become a hero to socialists and financially struggling young people whose entire worldview is built on hostility toward the rich? Piker despises anti‑Hamas Palestinians, anti‑Hezbollah Lebanese, anti‑regime Iranians, anti‑Islamist Arabs and Muslims, anti‑Communist Chinese, Cubans, and Venezuelans, and anyone who refuses to submit to the rigid ideology of today’s leftist pseudo‑religion. What is striking is that whenever I or anyone else points out these obvious problems, a chorus of defenders rushes to shield him. They insist he is not antisemitic, does not support terrorism, cares about people of color and the global south, and is merely being targeted by an establishment that controls media and narratives. Yet he repeatedly states exactly what he believes. He is a vile, deranged figure who incited violence against many, including myself, and I will never forget the troubles and hardships he personally caused me. My conclusion is simple. While modern leftists love to lament the “post‑fact” era, many are among its worst offenders. They ignore evidence, reject logic, and embrace emotional, irrational, and harmful fantasies that assault common sense. It is time to abandon Hasan Piker, the victimhood narrative, the endless grievances, the romanticization of terror groups, and the hollow posturing of communism, socialism, and faux anti‑establishment theatrics.

The insufferable Hasan Piker, who has campaigned with NYC mayor Mamdani, Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El‑Sayed, and several other Democratic candidates, claims that Jewish Americans who feel any affinity for Israel or support the Jewish state somehow invite violence onto themselves. He presents this as normal and even sensible. Many immediately condemned the remark as incitement and as an ignorant portrayal of Jews as responsible for the violence directed at them at a time when hate crimes are at historic highs. Others rushed to defend him, insisting he was not antisemitic and was merely criticizing “the Zionists,” even though the framing clearly targeted Jewish Americans as an entire group. What stands out is the double standard applied only to Jews. Do Palestinian Americans or Muslim Americans who support Hamas, a Jihadist and fascist organization, invite violence upon themselves? Do Muslims who advocate for Sharia Law, including interpretations used to justify beheadings, mass rape, and other crimes against humanity, invite violence upon themselves? Do Chinese Americans who do not speak out against Beijing’s treatment of Uyghurs or Tibetans invite violence upon themselves? Do leftists or Iranians who support the Islamic Republic, the Cuban regime, or Maduro’s Venezuela invite violence upon themselves? Do Lebanese Americans in Dearborn, Michigan, who support Hezbollah invite violence upon themselves? Do Yemeni Americans who support the Houthis and their brutal, regressive ideology invite violence upon themselves? The list can continue, yet one truth is unmistakable. There is a fixation on treating diaspora and American Jews as uniquely deserving of violence or hate crimes because of their perceived or actual views on a foreign policy issue. No other community is subjected to this logic. Never allow anyone to convince you that this has anything to do with the Palestinian people, their cause, or genuine pro‑Palestine advocacy.

July 24, 2018. That’s me in southern Israel holding a kite launched from Gaza toward Kibbutz Be’eri. Written on it in Arabic: “Be’eri, we’ve got nothing but time for you.” For years, incendiary kites and balloons burned fields around Israeli border communities, including Be’eri. We got used to it. We treated it as harassment instead of part of a growing threat. Five years later, we know what happened to Be’eri. 101 civilians were murdered. 30 Be’eri residents were kidnapped into Gaza. Nearly three years later, the community still hasn't returned home. So forgive us if we're no longer interested in being told that objects deliberately launched across the Gaza border are just “children flying kites.” We already learned what happens when Israelis are told to ignore threatening activity from Gaza because responding looks mean on television. We are not learning that lesson twice.

The pro-Palestine movement supports anti-Hamas protesters in Gaza? After finishing a meeting with a senior Arab diplomat, urging him to support anti-Hamas protestors in Gaza, I came across a seemingly spontaneously organized "pro-Palestine" protest in Washington DC. I thought, wow, maybe they are out here to support the hundreds of thousands of Gazans who have been demonstrating against Hamas and demanding the end of the terror group's rule. Instead, these demonstrators were repeating the same old tired slogans and made no mention or reference to Gazans who are putting their lives on the line. The tone deafness of the protesters was astonishing, almost as if they were deliberately trying to obfuscate what was happening in Gaza. The people of Gaza are exposing the fraud of the mainstream "pro-Palestine" "solidarity" movement in the West, one that only cares about Palestinian lives when they fit a narrow anti-Israel agenda and apply selective outrage but never toward an Islamist fascist terrorist organization that destroyed the Palestinian national project and harmed the Palestinian people. Shame on all who are still silent!

Does it matter how many die in the Middle East? Or does it only matter who they are?
