@bonifacio_chris So like that, BUT you need to do: const thing = await fetchThing() So the issue is the effect cleanup function runs before fetchThing completes meaning the subscription isn't cleaned up in dev mode when React runs hooks twice

One of the worst things about RTO (for me) is that I will no longer be able to blast 90s dance music and dance at my desk while working (without getting weird looks).
