They call AI developers “money grifters,” yet their argument often amounts to: “Pay an artist or you shouldn’t be allowed to make your game.” Most indie developers simply don’t have that money. You cannot lose a commission that never existed, and a game with no budget cannot hire anyone. AI allows that project to exist, prove itself, and potentially generate enough revenue to hire professional artists later. Without those tools, many of these games would never be made at all. Demanding that creators either pay you or abandon their ideas isn’t protecting art—it’s gatekeeping creativity behind money and personal approval.
