A week ago I didn't know if this Navigator thing would feel like work. Or just another affiliate link with extra steps. Turns out neither. What it actually became was an excuse to slow down. Check things I'd normally just accept. Which license actually covers me. Why a locked liquidity pool matters. Why the account that survives isn't the one with the best entry. It's the one that didn't panic on the worst day. I learned more verifying claims for other people this week than I have from months of scrolling past trading content. That's the part nobody mentions about this role going in. You end up holding yourself to the same standard you're asking your audience to trust. Still verifying. The rejection criteria matter more. Here's what gets an application declined. Framing it as a product pitch instead of a research problem. "We want to use AI to be more efficient." That exact phrasing. Instant red flag. General commercial use isn't what this funds. Full stop. No institutional backing behind you. Also a decline. Not built for individual hobbyists. Built for labs. Research institutions. Early-stage deep-tech teams with a real entity attached. High-risk biological research without documented compliance safeguards. Rejected. No exceptions carved out. What actually gets scored: Scientific merit. Technical feasibility. Potential impact. Safety compliance. Four dimensions. Not a vibe check. The work that tends to clear review is the kind commercial AI tools price out entirely. Target validation in drug research. Materials modeling. Dense, multi-step quantitative work. Legal-tech reasoning that can't tolerate a shortcut. Problems where getting it wrong costs more than the compute itself. If your lab has a real research question throttled by cost, not by the science, the path is simple. Structured questionnaire. Review by the technical committee.
