Well, they don't call it a honeymoon chart for no reason. Presidential approval ratings are a lot like a new relationship. Things change almost immediately once commitment is introduced, and this graph shows the approval ratings of Joe Biden and Donald Trump during the "honeymoon" phase of their presidencies.

While Biden's approval fell noticeably over time, Trump's numbers suggest that many voters had already made up their minds about him from the start. Biden slowly lost the spark in the relationship while Trump started toxic and improved slightly but was still unfortunately noticeably toxic.

Trump, on the other hand, never really got much of a honeymoon. I’ll start with a quote my father taught me at a young age: “If you lead with money, that’s all they will expect.” Although his approval ratings started lower, they stayed fairly stable throughout the year, hovering in the low 40s.

Biden started his presidency with approval ratings above 50% and enjoyed a stronger honeymoon period than Trump.
