@scottstts The concept of local would be nice, wouldn't it! But people are so cheap most people won't pay the cost - and companies want to sell you a subscription to inference service, show you ads, and collect a monthly charge forever, not sell you something you can use and control.

@RealShelfy My plan: 1. Offer umpires over 50 early retirement with a pension. 2. No hiring new umpires. 3. Phase in full-time ABS as umpires retire. Nothing can convince me some random umpire's random best guess is preferable to just knowing where the ball was - a deterministic call.

@dominic_w Honestly that could work fine, sadly it won’t because tech illiterates (including Congress) can’t understand how that could be possible, so I doubt it will even be attempted. Plus the actual bad actors DO want to be able to find out the legal name for every tweet to arrest them.
