PostMedia alone is a big part of that. Chatham Asset Management owns nearly two thirds of PostMedia. It also owns US media AMI / National Enquirer. The link from Chatham to Trump indirectly is David Pecker at AMI. So it’s a Trump MAGA aligned, CPC propaganda operation ever since Harper approved this years ago. Pecker used to be on the PostMedia board and is Trump’s media man. PostMedia is playing a big role in Trump’s 51st play. Which seems to be Harper’s Christian (Church) Reform Party’s end game. Yes that would be the so called CPC. Yet, even worse, algorithm driven social media are viral distributors of the “Canadian” and foreign media too! They’re owned by mega billionaires, including Zuckerberg and Musk, with combined wealth over half a trillion alone. These players are likely first order CPC “owners”, funders and propaganda operatives, beyond their controlling interests in our media.

Right. Let’s flip this entirely. So Washington wants to punish Britain and Spain. For what, exactly? For declining to participate in a war nobody asked for, nobody voted for, and nobody outside Mar-a-Lago particularly wanted. A war that has shut the Strait of Hormuz, torched the global economy, and handed Vladimir Putin the geopolitical equivalent of a winning lottery ticket. The Pentagon, in its infinite wisdom, has been circulating an internal email proposing to reward European restraint by suspending Spain from NATO and revisiting America’s support for Britain’s claim to the Falkland Islands.  The Falklands. A conflict that was settled in 1982 with 900 dead and has not been in dispute since. Trump’s new diplomatic weapon of choice is apparently a forty-year-old war. It is time to stop asking why Europe won’t sanction America and start asking why Europe hasn’t already. While Washington was dragging its allies into an illegal war in the Middle East, it was simultaneously shipping goodwill to Moscow, abandoning Ukraine, and threatening to pull out of the very alliance it now demands sacrifice in service of.  Trump called NATO countries cowards. He called British aircraft carriers toys. He called Keir Starmer “no Winston Churchill,”  which is rich coming from a man who can’t spell Churchill and whose only military instinct is to bomb things and then ask Pete Hegseth why it didn’t work. Spain has been completely clear: no bases, no airspace, no participation in what Prime Minister Sanchez has repeatedly called an illegal war. Good for Spain. That is not betrayal. That is a functioning democratic government with a spine. The betrayal is Washington’s. The betrayal is two years of gutting Ukraine aid, cosying up to the Kremlin, treating Article 5 as optional and European security as a bargaining chip. If Brussels wants to send a signal, here is what it looks like: targeted sanctions on American officials who have actively undermined European security. Asset freezes. Travel bans. A formal review of all bilateral defence agreements that assume American good faith, because that assumption is no longer supportable. NATO has confirmed that no mechanism exists to suspend or expel a member state.  Which means Washington cannot throw Spain out. What Washington can do is sulk, threaten and bluster, which is, come to think of it, the entire foreign policy of this administration in capsule form. Britain and Spain didn’t fail America. The President of the United States, a man who controls approximately 5,500 nuclear warheads, went on social media on a Sunday night to inform the world that the Pope is weak on foreign policy. The Pope. The man in the white robes who spends his days asking people to be kind to each other. Trump’s complaint, delivered with the subtlety of a concrete mixer reversing into a garden party, was that he doesn’t want a pope “who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”  One pauses here to consider the geography of this argument. Because from Lagos to Lahore, from Buenos Aires to Bangkok, there are rather a lot of people who have spent the last several decades looking at the United States, its history of regime changes, its aircraft carriers, its habit of deciding which civilizations get to continue existing, and thinking: you know what, we’re not entirely sure America is the right country to be hosting this particular conversation. Trump then posted an AI-generated image of himself in biblical robes, healing the sick, with light pouring from his fingers, eagles overhead, and what appeared to be the entire American military establishment looking on in quiet reverence. Just in case anyone felt the evening had not yet reached peak theological peculiarity. The pope, for his part, had spent Saturday leading a prayer vigil in St. Peter’s Basilica, where he suggested that the kingdom of God operates without swords, drones, or vengeance.  He named nobody. He threatened nobody. He asked for peace. This, apparently, is what passes for a provocation requiring a 500-word Truth Social rebuttal and a messianic selfie. Never before has the relationship between Washington and the Vatican revolved around two Americans. Specifically, a 79-year-old politician from Queens and a 70-year-old pontiff from Chicago.  It is, in its own catastrophic way, quite the achievement. There are roughly one billion Catholics in the world. Trump’s approval among American Catholics alone has already slipped from 52 to 48 percent since the Vatican tensions began. And that is just the Americans. The global ones have not yet been polled, but one suspects the numbers are not trending upward. The remarkable thing is not that a president and a pope disagree. That is fine. Healthy, even. The remarkable thing is that the president chose to resolve this disagreement by implying he personally installed the pope, casting himself as a divine healer, and then calling the leader of 1.4 billion Christians a radical leftist who is bad at his job. There are, it turns out, some constituencies even Donald Trump cannot bully into submission. One of them answers to a higher authority. Karoline Leavitt: “They were tested and they failed.” Here’s the thing about NATO that apparently needs explaining to the most powerful government on earth: it is not a taxi. You do not ring NATO. You do not place an order. You do not specify delivery within 72 hours and then stand in the Rose Garden bewildered that nothing has turned up. NATO is a collective defence alliance built on the radical concept that its members are, in fact, members, with votes and opinions and sovereign militaries they get to deploy according to their own national interests. This is written down. It has been written down since 1949. The documents are available in English. Nobody in this administration has read them. Let’s go back to Greenland for a moment, because this is apparently where the rot set in. Trump wanted Greenland. Just wanted it. Asked if he could have it. Was told no, it belongs to Denmark, which is a NATO ally, which means the whole thing was always going to be diplomatically awkward at best and catastrophically self-defeating at worst. His response was not to reflect on this. His response was to decide that NATO was a large problem. An alliance of thirty-two nations that has kept the peace in Europe for seventy-five years was, in his assessment, getting in the way of his property acquisition. This tells you everything you need to know about how the man thinks. And it tells you everything about who he hired to think alongside him. Every serious leader in history, every CEO worth the title, every general who ever won anything, has operated on the same basic principle: hire people smarter than yourself. Steve Jobs did it. Churchill did it. Every remotely competent executive who ever ran anything of consequence understood that your job is not to be the cleverest person in the building. Your job is to find the cleverest people in the building and then get out of their way. Surround yourself with people who will tell you when you’re wrong. Who know things you don’t. Who have read the documents.Trump inverted this entirely. A cabinet selected not for expertise but for loyalty. Not for knowledge but for the willingness to perform agreement. Pete Hegseth at Defence. A communications team that announces things with confidence at a ratio entirely disconnected from understanding. An administration where the qualification for the job was, essentially, never making the man at the top feel inadequate. The outcome of this philosophy is Karoline Leavitt at a podium reading four words as though she had just solved something. Delivered with the serene confidence of someone who has never had to sit in a room and actually work out what NATO is, how it functions, why it was built, or what the word collective means in the context of collective defence. They were tested and they failed. Europe is not shaking its fist. Europe is shaking its head. Slowly. Wearily. In the way you do when you’ve explained something seventeen times and the person across the table still hasn’t got it and you’ve finally accepted that they never will. The allies are building their own defence architecture now, with people in the room who have read the documents. They stopped waiting for Washington to grow into the role some time ago. And somewhere in all of this, Greenland is still Danish. Still will be tomorrow. NATO is still an alliance of sovereign nations who get to say no. Still will be next week. And the White House is still staffed by people who find both of these facts baffling. France Has Moved All Its Gold Out of the United States The Banque de France has completed a full withdrawal of its gold reserves from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Between July 2025 and January 2026, 129 tonnes of French gold stored in New York were sold and replaced with equivalent bullion purchased in Europe. All of France’s 2,437 tonnes of gold now sit in Paris. Every last bar. The timing is hard to ignore. With Trump tearing up the postwar rulebook and transatlantic trust at historic lows, France has quietly made sure its financial bedrock is no longer stored on American soil. The operation generated a 13 billion euro windfall on the back of record-high gold prices, turning a 7.7 billion euro loss in 2024 into an 8.1 billion euro profit in 2025. Macron essentially got paid to exit. And France is not alone. Germany still holds 1,236 tonnes of gold at the Federal Reserve, roughly 37 percent of its total reserves. The pressure to bring it home is building fast. Michael Jäger, head of the Association of German Taxpayers, has been blunt: Trump is unpredictable, does everything to generate revenue, and Germany’s gold is no longer safe in the Fed’s vaults.
