Look closely and you'll see the #ballet #dancers in the eye. This was a massive picture created by french artist "JR" that was comprised of dancers and huge sheets of crumpled white paper. The final image then occupied the entire ground floor of a theatre in Manhattan! Amazing!

Have you seen this picture doing the rounds on the internet? It supposedly shows a #ballet class in Russia in the ruins of a building during WW2. So beautiful, right? Well it's actually a scene from an old film and was never a real event.

What does a #ballet #dancer, a baseball player and a violinist have in common? #Rosin! This yellow crystal substance is rubbed on a dancer's #pointes to prevent slipping. It's also used by baseball players to improve their grip of the ball and violinists apply it to their bow.

Original #ballet shoes had nothing to do with the current #pointe shoes we have today. They had heels and were like formal dress shoes and uncomfortable to dance in. Needless to say, no-one was doing the Grand Jete in these back then!

It was the 18th century and... Anne Heinel was the first #ballet #dancer to do a double pirouette. In fact, she was such an exceptional #ballerina that Gaétan Vestris whom she performed with, found her a threat, so she was relegated to secondary roles. 😤 How unfair!

Has anyone ever played "Let's play ballerina" on the Nintendo Wii? Apparently the objective is to become a prima #ballerina. The game includes six "authentic" ballets that can be performed by the player and even features licensed apparel from #Repetto! 😂
