6 terrorists were hiding in a house in a village in Kashmir. Soldiers surrounded it. One man positioned himself at the spot they would run for, so none of them could get out. He was 31, from a village in Bihar, and he was not from the army. He was from the Air Force. His name was Jyoti Prakash Nirala. He was born on 15th November 1986 in Badladih, in Rohtas district in Bihar, into an ordinary family. He joined the Indian Air Force in 2005 at 18. Most people do not know the Air Force has commandos. It does. They are called the Garud Commando Force, raised in 2003, and it is the youngest special forces unit in the country. The selection and training is brutal and takes years. He got in. On 18th November 2017, in Chanderger village in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, intelligence reported 6 Lashkar e Taiba terrorists hiding in a house. Among them was Osama Jungi, the nephew of Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi, and another man who was the group's commander for north Kashmir. A Garud detachment went in with the 13th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles and set a close quarter ambush around the house. Nirala took the most exposed position. He placed himself right at the approach to the hideout, to close off the only escape route. His citation makes a point of this. Laying an ambush at such close quarters, it says, demanded a very high degree of courage and professional acumen. He was, in plain terms, the man standing in the doorway. The 6 came out at once, firing and throwing grenades. Nirala shot 2 of them dead, including Jungi, and wounded 2 more. Then he was hit. Not by a single bullet. The citation says a barrage. He kept firing. He carried on engaging the remaining terrorists while critically wounded, and he held that position until he could not any more. He died of his wounds. All 6 terrorists were killed in that operation. It is regarded as one of the heaviest blows dealt to that organisation in Kashmir in those years. 3 days later he would have turned 31. He had been married since 2010. On 26th January 2018 the President of India presented the Ashok Chakra to his widow at the Republic Day parade. The Ashok Chakra is the highest award India gives for bravery in peacetime. It is the equal of the Param Vir Chakra. He was only the 3rd person in the history of the Indian Air Force to receive it, and the first Air Force man ever to be given a gallantry award for fighting on the ground. He was a Corporal. Not an officer. He was the man who made sure nobody got out of that house.
The man who terrified millions on screen had found his safest place in the arms of his leading lady. ❤️ On screen, Ashutosh Rana became one of Bollywood’s most frightening villains. His performance as Lajja Shankar Pandey in Sangharsh was so disturbing that audiences still remember him with a shiver. But behind that menacing screen image was a very different man—and his love story with Renuka Shahane is surprisingly gentle. Renuka, the charming actress remembered fondly as Pooja from Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, met Ashutosh through filmmaker Ravi Rai. Their friendship gradually blossomed into love, and the two eventually married in 2001. What makes their relationship special is the contrast. He was known for playing darkness; she was known for warmth and grace. Yet together they created a quiet, enduring partnership away from Bollywood's usual drama. They became parents to two sons and have continued to support each other's careers and individual interests.

7 September 2026 Nepal Right now, in Nepal, we are facing something I have never faced before. Not one rescue — but multiple potential rescues, unfolding at the same time, in different places, each with its own dangers, uncertainties and lives that may still be saved. It has made me think about Silkyara. There, 41 men were underground and we had one seemingly impossible task: bring them home alive. We passed that test together. But perhaps passing one great test does not mean the testing is over. Perhaps sometimes it means we are being entrusted with a greater one. Western traditions might call this duty: we do what is right because it is our responsibility, even when success is uncertain. Asian traditions offer another powerful idea: dharma. The test is not simply whether we succeed. It is whether we continue to do what is right when the path becomes harder, the responsibilities multiply, and the outcome cannot be known. Silkyara taught me never to confuse unlikely with impossible. Nepal is teaching me something more: when several lives may depend upon us at once, hope must become discipline, compassion must become action, and duty cannot depend upon certainty of success. East or West, the principle feels the same. We are measured not only by the lives we save, but by the lives we refuse to abandon.

In April 2019, one of the largest food companies in the world sued 9 potato farmers in Gujarat. The farmers were growing a potato. They had bought the seed in the local market. Most of them had never heard of intellectual property. The company wanted damages running into crores. Her name is Kavitha Kuruganti. She is a farmers' rights activist and the convenor of an organisation called the Alliance for Sustainable and Holistic Agriculture. The potato at the centre of it is called FL 2027, sold commercially as FC5. It is the variety grown for Lay's chips, because it has low moisture content and fries well. PepsiCo India had registered it in 2016 under a law called the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Act. That law is unusual, and it is the whole point of this story. Most countries protect the plant breeder. India's law protects the breeder and the farmer, in the same statute. Section 39 says a farmer is entitled to save, use, sow, resow, exchange, share or sell his farm produce, including the seed of a protected variety. That right was written in deliberately, because in India seed has been saved and exchanged between farmers for thousands of years, and Parliament decided that a registration certificate should not be able to end that. PepsiCo sued anyway. The response was immediate. Farmers' organisations mobilised. Political parties took it up. It became a national argument about whether a company could own a potato. On 10th May 2019, PepsiCo withdrew all the cases. That is usually where such a story ends. The company retreats, the news moves on, and the registration that made the lawsuit possible stays exactly where it was. Kuruganti did not stop there. In June 2019 she filed an application asking the authority to revoke PepsiCo's registration of the variety altogether. Her argument was that the registration itself was wrong, that documents were missing from the original application, and that granting it was against public interest given the hardship it had caused. It took 2 years. On 3rd December 2021, the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority revoked the certificate. The order noted that the registration had been granted despite missing paperwork, that there were discrepancies in the process, and that farmers had suffered hardship as a result. PepsiCo challenged it in the Delhi High Court, and the case has gone back and forth through the courts since. Whatever the final legal position, one thing already happened and cannot be undone. 9 farmers who could not have afforded to defend themselves were sued by a company worth hundreds of billions, and within a month the company walked away. Not because the farmers hired better lawyers. Because 1 woman read the Act properly and knew that Section 39 was in there.
BIG: Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister and Daughter of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz makes a big statement - Says there is bigger threat of terrorism from Pakistani provinces of KPK and Balochistan rather than India and Afghanistan. Asim Munir must be fuming at this brutal truth.

The biggest injustice done to Krishna was not forgetting him. It was reducing him. We kept the flute. The butter. The romance. We forgot the mind. The Gita is not about conquest. It is about inner command. Krishna did not climb a mountain to return with commandments. He spoke on a battlefield. Because life is the laboratory. Conflict is the test. “Dharma” is the response. The Gita has 700 verses. A few hours to recite. A lifetime to absorb. And inside those verses are almost every human crisis. Collapse. Identity. Death. Duty. Action. Desire. Attachment. Love. Ego. Fear. Faith. Consciousness. Choice. Freedom. The Gita begins with a human breaking down. And ends with that human standing up. That is the journey. From confusion to clarity. From paralysis to action. From ego to awareness. From attachment to freedom. And then Krishna does something extraordinary. After 18 chapters, he does not threaten Arjuna. He does not demand obedience. He does not say: “Believe me or suffer.” He says: “Reflect on this fully. Then do as you wish.” - Gita 18.63 Think about that. Krishna did not demand belief. He demanded understanding. Knowledge first. Freedom after. That is Krishna. Perhaps Krishna Consciousness is not something to acquire. Perhaps it is something we were taught to forget. We put Krishna in temples. We decorated him. Prayed to him. Celebrated his birth. Politicians did it. Society did it. Families did it too. We taught children his miracles. But rarely his mind. His philosophy became religion. His questions left the classroom. His Gita became something to worship. Not something to interrogate. Study. Debate. Live. Perhaps that was the real reduction of Krishna. We made him merely “The God.” When he could have remained “The Guru” of civilization. So this Janmashtami, do not only ask: “Where is Krishna?” Ask something more uncomfortable: “Why did we put Krishna inside a temple… and leave his mind outside?” Happy Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
He, who steals our hearts To that Butter-Thief, We love You ❤️Krishna! Happy #SriJayanti #Gokulashtami to the all of you!

On 22nd June 2015, off the coast of Odisha, second officer Manoj Chauhan spotted a small boat through his binoculars, 2.5 km away. Men on board were waving their shirts. The captain who saw that signal was a woman, and what happened next made her the first woman in the world to win the highest bravery award the shipping industry gives. Her name is Radhika Menon. She is from Kodungallur in Kerala, and she is the first woman ever to captain a ship in the Indian Merchant Navy. That day she was in command of the oil tanker Sampurna Swarajya, sailing down the east coast of India. A deep depression at sea had brought winds of 60 to 70 knots and waves 25 to 27 feet high. The tanker itself was being thrown around in it. The boat Chauhan had spotted was called the Durgamma, a small fishing vessel from Andhra Pradesh. Its engine had failed and its anchor was gone. It had drifted for days from Kakinada all the way to Gopalpur, at the mercy of the storm. There were 7 fishermen on board, including a 15 year old boy. Their food had washed away. They were surviving on ice from the cold storage. They had given up hope of being found. Menon looked at the boat through her binoculars and made a decision in seconds. She has said her focus was on the boy. She knew that if she did not pick them up, none of them would survive. A large tanker cannot simply pull alongside a small fishing boat in a storm like that and expect it to be safe. It took 3 attempts, using a pilot ladder lowered down the side of the tanker, with life jackets on standby, before all 7 men were finally brought aboard. They stayed on her ship for about a week before it reached port and they were reunited with their families. She has said plainly that an award was the last thing on her mind that day. She considered it her duty. The International Maritime Organisation disagreed with how ordinary she made it sound. On 21st November 2016, at its headquarters in London, it gave her the Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea. No woman, in any country, in the history of that award, had ever received it before. She said afterwards that it was the greatest honour any seafarer could receive, and that it was worth cherishing. 7 men are alive today because a woman looking through a pair of binoculars in a storm did not look away.
Samsung on August 23rd. NVIDIA on August 26th. Three days apart, two companies laid claim to the exact same sliver of silicon almost nobody outside the industry knows exists, the base die sitting under the memory stack in every AI accelerator! Samsung moved first. At Hot Chips it showed this base die shifting from a plain DRAM process to a 4 nanometer class logic process, which is what lets the memory controller sit inside the memory instead of on the expensive chip using it. Samsung added that conventional controllers are already being ported across today. Three days later NVIDIA reported earnings, guided gross margin down from a 75.0% print to a 71% to 72% trough on extreme memory pricing, and on the same day announced that the controller in that base die should be its own. NVIDIA named the design NVHBM. Amazon's Annapurna Labs, the team behind Trainium, is the first to work on NVHBM. I went through both sets of documents again this morning, because the order matters insanely more than either announcement did. NVIDIA did not invent this clearly not. Samsung had already published the roadmap in phases. Reclaim accelerator area. Add sensors and memory extension. Then stack compute straight onto the DRAM and delete the interposer. What NVIDIA did was faster than inventing. NVIDIA put a name on the slot, said its own controller belongs there, and promised a standard implementation from multiple memory providers, which in context means standard inside NVLink Fusion rather than a JEDEC standard anyone can build. The base die stopped being plumbing last week. That layer is now contested territory. The fight is about area. A memory controller and its wide interface eat expensive space on the accelerator die. Push the controller down beside the DRAM, narrow the link back to compute, and NVIDIA claims up to 30% more bandwidth per stack, 15% lower HBM power, and up to 25% more compute area than standard HBM4E. Those are company claims, unmeasured, and similar figures already circulate in the general custom HBM literature, so I treat the physics as the industry's and the branding as NVIDIA's. Now set that beside the filing. NVIDIA's supply and capacity commitments went from $119 billion to $279 billion in one quarter, primarily for memory. One move reaches for the scarce bits. The other clearly tries to make the logic underneath them conform to NVIDIA's design. Then watch what Amazon actually did. In the same announcement AWS committed to 2 million more NVIDIA GPUs across 2027 and 2028. NVIDIA's blog says next generation Trainium starting with Trainium4 supports NVLink Fusion. Amazon's own page says only that the technology would give Trainium access to faster, lower power memory. Amazon never says Trainium4 ships with NVHBM. So AWS is not substituting. AWS is running both and wiring them into one rack. My read is that this reprices the custom silicon debate even though nothing has shipped. A hyperscaler can win the compute socket and still sit inside NVIDIA's controller, interconnect and rack. Losing the die matters less when you own the layer beneath it. I want the limits visible. No availability date. No named memory supplier. No price, volume, royalty or exclusivity in either document. Samsung is turning the base die into logic, SK Hynix went toward packaging and thermal, and what I cannot work out is why not one of Samsung, SK Hynix or Micron has said a word about NVHBM on the record. Silence from the three companies who would have to build NVHBM is the loudest thing here. Do not model a toll. Model an option! Everyone read the 70% growth guide. The real contest is one layer below the compute die. If anyone has seen a memory vendor respond to NVHBM on the record, tell me, because I have looked and come up empty.
Ask whether consciousness explains anything the computation leaves unexplained and the answer is no for us too. If it is the computation there is no residual, and if it rides along there is none. Only dualism predicts a gap. We are not evidence-limited. We are theory-limited.
Whether consciousness explains anything the script leaves unexplained is an explanatory-residual test, and it acquits humans as well. If experience is identical to the computation there is no residual by construction, and if it merely rides along there is none either. A
