Just wrapped up the latest pricing audit. I'm surprised by the number of devices which are not available for one reason or another. The brands predicted to leave the consumer market in 2026 are beginning to fade away as inventory becomes depleted.

A reader emailed me last week with a screenshot. A 2TB Samsung 990 Pro on Amazon. $449. "Is this a scam, or did I miss something?" It wasn't a scam. And the email I hated writing said that if he needed it now, $449 was probably going to look cheap in 60 days.

@tomshardware This is going to hit consumer SSD pricing too. NAND and controller allocation follows similar patterns - when enterprise/data center demand spikes, consumer inventory gets squeezed. We saw this in 2021. Expect consumer SSD prices to plateau or tick up in Q2-Q3 2026.
