Violent & nonviolent protests work. Historical precedent teaches us there are many effective paths to change & they work in tandem! Instead of praising one or bashing another, organize how you can. Boycotts, strikes, bail funds, disruptions, road blocks, sit ins…no wrong way.

For those unfamiliar with self-immolation as altruistic suicide, it’s an act of sacrifice used as a form of non-violent protest with a centuries-long reputation as the most extreme way to bring attention to a cause. What happens next is up to us. It’s usefulness is in our hands.
