I cannot stress this enough: If you have designated yourself as an organ donor on your drivers license, remove it now. Your family has ZERO ability to override that designation. If the organ donation team designates you as a candidate for donation, your medical team is removed from dictating your care and the organ donation team takes over. There have been numerous cases like the one mentioned here. I have personally witnessed people BEGGING for their loved one to not be made an organ donor, but if you checked that box on your drivers license, that’s all it takes. You have consented and give up any right to retract.
