A student asked me to fill out a survey on how GEO really works. Happy to help — but it immediately reminded me of every SEO video on YouTube and thread on Reddit I've ever seen. 🙄 Here's what SEO, GEO, and LLMs all have in common with social media: 🔹 Only the top results matter (10 pages, maybe fewer with LLMs) 🔹 Consensus is not evidence — it's just popularity 🔹 LLMs are trained on the most-surfaced content, which is selected by engagement signals 🔹 YouTube, X, and Reddit reward pleasing ideas over accurate ones 🔹 So the "conventional wisdom" you're learning? It's often just the most upvoted wrong answer This creates a feedback loop: Popular content → more reach → more training data → more citations by AI → even more authority. The result isn't collusion. It's something more insidious: emergent conformity. 99% of people independently arrive at the same wrong conclusions because the system punishes deviation and rewards agreement. SEO and GEO disproportionately reward the people who understand this — and quietly crush everyone else who's optimizing based on consensus thinking. The best strategy has never been to follow the crowd. 🎯

One thing with LLMs is that they pick on extremely concise, “bottom-funnel”content. Best approach to this is to begin your content with TL;DRs, Quick answer etc. I’ve been using this strategy even for brand new sites and getting traffic straight from ChatGPT. Try it.
If you’re going to do pSEO maybe don’t try to do 5 articles a day… OG bloggers know 2-3 articles each week is the sweet spot even for an “expert”...
*SEO is that guy at the party everyone keeps announcing has left, but he’s still there in the kitchen explaining backlinks to somebody trying to open hummus...(good one)
99% of SEO strategies just tap 10% of value. It’s up to you experiment, evaluate, and follow patterns to determine real needle-moving ones.
