I understand the sentiment, but the strategy can not be right. You are harassing legal and illegal migrants. You cannot harass and kill people just for being in your country. Migration is additional fuel to economies and I'm sure you've either seen or will see that foreign national are not your real problem, and as far as Nigeria is concerned, we will get it right.

Countries are at the mercy of governments. For sure, Nigeria has been unfortunate in this respect. Power shifted in 1994 in South Africa and today the black South African population is still struggling with the same issues, in some ways things are even worse, with a current government and past government meshed in corruption. So, why don't you people fix your own country?

Respect the passion. But let's be honest with each other. You mention accountability. Jacob Zuma, 9 years in power, R500 billion in state capture, 783 corruption charges, fled his own inquiry. Ace Magashule, arrested for asbestos tender fraud. Tony Yengeni, convicted. Tina Joemat-Pettersson, implicated in nuclear and oil deals. These aren't opposition allegations. These are ANC cadres. Your cadres. Ramaphosa? Millions in foreign currency stuffed inside furniture on his private game farm. Not declared. Not explained. He's currently your president. The ANC has governed South Africa for 30 years. Here's what that accountability produced: 33% unemployment. 63% youth unemployment. Eskom collapsed so badly you invented a word for it, load shedding. SAA bankrupted. Prasa collapsed. SABC collapsed. Transnet collapsed. The NHI Bill your government just passed is being fought in court by your own medical profession. Now the economy you're referencing. Land audit 2017, Black South Africans own approximately 4% of the land in a country that is 80% Black. White South Africans, roughly 8% of the population, own close to 72% of privately held land. On the JSE, Black ownership sits below 10% of listed equity. The mines, the farms, the financial architecture, built before 1994, still owned by the same hands. You are not flexing South Africa's economy. You are flexing an economy you are largely locked out of. That is not a criticism of Black South Africans. That is an indictment of 30 years of BEE policy that enriched a Black elite while the township remained the township. Nigeria has real problems. So does Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya. None of us are running from that conversation. But a citizen who owns 4% of their country's land, lives under politicians with active corruption charges, and cannot keep the lights on, coming to the internet to teach the continent about accountability, that is not confidence. That is displacement. Go fix Eskom. Redistribute the land you've been promising since 1994. Prosecute Zuma fully. Pass a budget that doesn't borrow to survive. Do all of that. Then this conversation will mean something. We're not your problem. Your government is.
