Even though his style is obviously much different, deadmau5 is similar in that his music is… well, idek. Deadmau5 just has “it” (whatever “it” is 🤷‍♂️). Some musicians have a special flow and quality to their sound that is completely inimitable

@jaxonloid If you figure out what different fx actually do to a sound, youll just kinda get a feel for it. E.g. a piano with a too loud attack but the sustained part is quiet. Fix with compressor to tame the attack, then makeup gain so the sustained part is louder relative to the attack.

@singtoconley Compression doesn’t necessarily make everything loud. it reduces dynamic range (the difference between quiet and loud parts of the sound gets smaller)

@ipsiom Wow, sick. This is one of the best SL remakes I’ve heard. No one who tries ever nails the drums and the high end “air” though. I suspect he uses bitcrushing (not downsampling) and ASAP spectral clipping (free plugin) for a lot of his sounds
