🌙🏦 MIDNIGHT × MONUMENT BANK real UK banking meets programmable privacy. @midnightfdn announced that @monument_bank, a Bank of England‑regulated institution managing roughly £7 billion in deposits and serving 100,000+ customers, is set to become the first UK bank to tokenise retail customer deposits on a public blockchain, @MidnightNtwrk. First phase target: up to £250 million in tokenised, interest‑bearing deposits, fully backed by Monument, redeemable in GBP, and still protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) this is not a synthetic crypto product, it's a 1:1 digital mirror of a real regulated bank deposit. The rollout is planned in three phases. Phase one puts client deposits on‑chain as tokens corresponding one‑to‑one with funds actually held at the bank. Phase two opens access to tokenised real‑world‑asset products private equity, commodity funds, structured products historically reserved for ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients and institutions, delivered directly inside the Monument app without customers ever needing to touch a crypto wallet. Phase three introduces Lombard‑style lending, letting mass‑affluent customers borrow against their investments instead of selling them a facility normally exclusive to private banking clients. The enabler is Midnight's shielded infrastructure: transaction data stays visible only to Monument and its customers, not to the public ledger, letting the bank use blockchain rails while preserving the confidentiality and compliance controls regulated finance requires. @F_ZK_Now, President of the Midnight Foundation, framed it directly: "Midnight provides programmable privacy infrastructure that allows financial institutions to represent assets on public networks while ensuring transaction data and sensitive financial information remain protected." @BCG projects the tokenised asset market could reach $4–16 trillion by 2030 Monument is betting Midnight is the rail that lets a regulated retail bank actually compete for that market instead of watching it go to institutional players only.
