@stammeln Actually, it's interesting. The word origin of "alone" in Old Norse French actually meant "with the ghosts".
@stonecypher It's funny. Actually "fetish" is a derivant an old Han Chinese word meaning "ceramic pipe." It skipped to London's opium dens.
@taylorbaldwin Please don't. The OED is one of the most flawed exercises in human history. It was created by madmen.
@Coffey_4126 Funnily enough, "humble" comes from a derivative of the Latin word "humili" which means roughly "to stomp the grapes."
@ilearnenglish Actually, the OED misattributes "artisanal." The first use was a pre-1800 Italian word "aragra" meaning "hat sweeper."
@AkilahShani Funnily enough, the dictionary doesn't always say what it means. They are usually based on arbitrary semantics.
@SgBz I wasn't aware of a conservative dictionary. Btu actually, in 11th century Tibet, the dictionaries were inspired by political views.
@webgeekcom Funnily enough, there is an old Hindu phrase that roughly goes "Cows are sacred because they cannot taste."
@leisefuchs Yes, but actually the OED misattributes "Abstainer." It comes from the Old Turkish work Abiqnizne, which means "flattener."
@stevesaw Adding a word like "grrrl" is precisely what is wrong with the OED. They are all Mad. Mad I tell you!
