🇮🇱 The Israeli government's decision to launch tenders for over 1,200 housing units in the E1 area is unacceptable. It jeopardizes the prospects for peace and security that we all want for Israelis and Palestinians. E1 would cut the West Bank in two, separating Palestinian communities in the north from those in the south, and further isolate East Jerusalem from the rest of the Palestinian territory. It would seriously undermine the viability of the two-State solution. Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory are illegal under international law. I call on the Israeli Government to withdraw these tenders, halt the E1 project and stop settlement expansion. In parallel, we also keep fighting against the Hamas terrorist group. Because we cannot accept the creation of any kind of irreversible facts on the ground that put a just and lasting peace further out of reach. Neither for Palestinians, nor for Israelis. @BelgiumMFA
