i genuinely hope that after the steam machines release people will finally understand that "ram crisis delayed the release of hl3" take was a huge larping cope. i got tired of telling people that i don't think it was ever meant to be a release title. i also don't think they would hold a finished product for the sake of another one. valve always seemed too chaotic to line up two projects from two different teams together, especially hardware and software.

the most important thing that people are missing about steam machines v2 is that proper steamos will be available to everyone. steam machines v1 happened because microsoft tried to monopolize and lock windows 8 with their store. so valve's initial idea was to create a free os for gamers. it failed at the time case proton wasn't good enough. any machine can be a steam machine and that's exactly what's happening now

S&Box developers have just introduced a game mounting system. You can now import models, maps, and other assets from games such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Quake and more. The system works in multiplayer too, but all players must own the game on Steam and have it installed in order to play.

Garry Newman shared future plans for S&Box: "First of all, we need to do Game Jams again. They need to include the player community more. The jams should be aimed at getting players in game to play and vote just as much as they're aimed at developers. Secondly, we need to improve the Sandbox game. While we've resisted "subscribing" to addons in favour of cloud based runtime spawnable entities, I think we're coming around to the idea of the two systems co-existing. Then we can do a sale and some promotion. We're going to do that once we're happy with the condition of everything. We think that aiming to do this around Christmas time will give us plenty of time to tweak and polish everything that needs to be done."
