Gary Sinise @GarySinise

“One day I will tell little Moira my story, and I will become a strong uncle for her to turn to for help and guidance. I will become strong in mind, body, and spirit. I ask God for guidance in my journey to strength.” Mac wrote these words the night he became an uncle, and looking back, I think they speak so deeply to the man my son was and the kind of role model he wanted to be. While Mac may not be here physically to watch Moira grow up, she will always know her Uncle Mac - his strength, his faith, his music, and the extraordinary heart he shared with all of us. I will never forget standing in the hospital room and seeing Mac with such love in his eyes holding this precious little baby for the first time. Little Moira, our first granddaughter and Mac’s first niece, was named in honor of her grandmother. There is something very comforting to me in knowing that, in a different way than Mac imagined when he wrote those words, he can still be that uncle to her. As his nieces and nephews grow older, they will have his story, his music, and his own words to turn to. They will know how deeply he loved them from the very beginning and the kind of example he hoped to set for them. Music has always been one of the threads connecting our family. When our children were little, Moira would sing them the Irish lullaby “Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral.” Years later, Mac recorded himself playing that same lullaby with members of the Lt. Dan Band for his album Resurrection and Revival. It means so much to me that his nieces and nephews can now hear their Uncle Mac playing a song their grandmother once sang to him. You can listen to Mac’s rendition here: youtube.com/watch?v=PZ0Ukt…. This is just one small piece of the story I share in Graceful Warrior. It is a story about our family - the highs and the lows, the joy and the heartbreak, and the ways we leaned on one another through circumstances we never could have imagined. Most of all, it is about the hope and faith we found along the way, even in our most difficult moments. Preorder your copy of Graceful Warrior today: bit.ly/4zo41Cx

@KristySwansonXO Thank you Kristy❤️

Alright folks, this one is for the dads out there. One of the most meaningful and special things I did with my son in the last few years of his life was take a road trip. I write about this wonderful trip in chapter seven of my up coming book Graceful Warrior, due out on November 10. I wanted to come here to share a little, and encourage my fellow fathers to take a road trip with their sons and/or daughters. Mac had traveled with me here and there for band concerts, but we had never hit the road, just the two of us, for any kind of downtime together. We were blessed as the timing of this trip was just right. The following year he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and it was not possible after that. Had we put the trip off, it wouldn’t have happened. I thank God that we scheduled it when we did. Among other places we went to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, New Orleans and Savannah, Georgia. It was a fantastic eight day trip. Folks, I believe spending time with our kids is one of the most important things we can do and it’s a blessing when we can take the time to get to know them for the adults they have become. Spending that one on one time with Mac was so important. With a lot of driving time on the road, I was able to share a lot with him, and he with me, and just having that alone time together brought us even closer together. I encourage all Dad’s out there to think about taking advantage of the good times you have right in front of you, and, if you can, make a little time to take the road trip. I am so thankful that Mac and I were able to do this when we did. Preorder your copy of Graceful Warrior today: bit.ly/4zo41Cx

@Joyouss0 My heart goes out to you. The hardest thing. I am so sorry....🙏🏻 Thank you for the kind words.

I’d like you to know that I am releasing my second book, Graceful Warrior: The True Story of a Son, a Father, and a Family Who Carried Each Other Through, on November 10- my son Mac's birthday. This project has been two years in the making and it is more deeply personal than anything I have ever done. I wrote this book not only to honor my son, but also to offer hope, strength, and comfort to others who are currently walking through their own challenging valleys. I wanted to take a moment and share a little more about Mac - a snippet of what you'll hear more about in the book. Mac was vibrant. He was a talented musician and composer, a proud uncle, and a loving son and brother. At 27, he was diagnosed with chordoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Mac never let this slow him down. He pushed forward, serving through the Gary Sinise Foundation until he needed to step back to focus on the fight. But even in that, he fully embraced every moment he could, writing, composing, and recording music for his album Resurrection and Revival, I look forward to sharing more about Mac, my family's journey, and the love and faith that carried us through in the coming weeks. And my heart goes out to anyone struggling with a similar challenge. If you’d like to pre-order the book, you can do so through Barnes & Nobles, Amazon, or Premier Collectibles.

When I was going through Mac’s files, I found a recording simply labeled “6-8 Piano Comp Sad.” Mac would often record these musical ideas, tuck them away and give them whatever name would help him identify them later. When I first heard this beautiful melody, it reminded me some of his other piano pieces like “Arctic Circles” or “Angels Theme” or “Waltz for Addicts.” I envisioned it as a jazz ballad, gave it to Ben Lewis and he arranged it beautifully on piano, featuring our great Lt. Dan Band trombone player Harry Watters. The recording of this song is on Resurrection & Revival Part Three and begins with Mac himself at the piano, playing the melody he wrote. Hearing his hands on those keys and then hearing that idea grow into the finished “6-8 Jazz Ballad” is very special to me. So much of Resurrection & Revival Part 3, and now my upcoming book Graceful Warrior, has been about sharing Mac’s creativity, his spirit, and the incredible work he left behind. I’m grateful for every opportunity to introduce a little more of him to all of you. I know you’ll enjoy “6-8 Jazz Ballad.” Watch and listen here: youtube.com/watch?v=VCEju5…

@dhdrewry Thank you David🙏🏻🙏🏻

Ricky is back at the Opry. What a great guy and band. Have a great show my friend

What an incredible milestone for the Lt. Dan Band. After more than two decades on the road, this weekend we officially made it to all 50 states! From Pease Air National Guard Base in New Hampshire and Camp Johnson in Vermont, to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in New York and finally Newport Naval Station in Rhode Island, I found myself thinking about all the places this band has taken us and, more importantly, all the extraordinary people we’ve had the privilege to meet along the way. I’m so grateful to everyone who has welcomed us into their communities over the years and given us the opportunity to say thank you to our nation’s defenders, veterans, first responders, and their families. All 50 states! What a journey. Thank you, America. God bless you! 🇺🇸
