Holy shit... This is absolutely INSANE. Some people may be wondering why the crew didn't simply refuse to proceed through the wildfire. The reality is that railroad conductors and engineers operate under a very different set of expectations than most employees. They are federally certified, governed by extensive operating rules, and expected to comply with dispatcher instructions. Unlike most jobs, they don't have broad discretion to choose another route or simply decide not to move a train. Their responsibility is to safely execute the movement they're authorized to make while communicating any hazards they encounter. Whether the train should have been sent into those conditions is a fair question, but that decision often extends well beyond the crew in the locomotive cab. Failure to comply can result in suspensions, terminations and loss of certifications which would be the end of their career. Is that a better alternative than the end of your life? Absolutely, but it's a very hard decision to make.

A recent viral video on social media shows a CN freight train engulfed in flames while traveling through an active wildfire in Northern Ontario. The train was operated by Teamsters Canada Rail Conference members, whose quick thinking and professionalism ensured that no one was injured. But those workers should never have been put in that position. CN should never be sending train crews into such dangerous conditions.

@geobaldi5 @SCSsoftware I came here to say just this, looks awesome but far too lifeless at that interchange. It is perpetually crazy there, doesn't have to be stop/go traffic, but very much 'watch you mirrors' traffic, would be good.

@WindyCityWxMan I time it at about a quarter or a second (I slowed the video down), so what's that, maybe about 75-80 Metres (so about 250ft). Yeah, that'd put a spring in your step if you were outside for sure.
