To the Americans: I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States. And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness: You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence. This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns. Success is equated with exploitation. Ambition is looked upon with contempt. This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom. But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated. This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet. And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America: Thank God for the United States. Thank God for the wisdom of its founders. Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man. Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners. Long may your admirable country dominate the world. Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states. Look, there is no other way to understand this. Mamdani and Americans like Hinckle seem ashamed of the American experiment and the republic. They seem to think that Shia Islamic Iran is ethically superior and a better model of government, or as the Muslim Brotherhood says: Islam Is the Solution. We are not debating differences over policies with them any more. We are debating the founding principles of America’s state and society, and comparing them to Islamic society and government. As someone born and raised in Muslim society, I think America’s founding principles are superior — ethically and practically — to an Islamic government.

There have been 4 major revolutions in the past 250 years: American, French, Russian, and Chinese. Only one led to individual rights and prosperity. The others led to mass death and tyranny. The US revolution was unique because it said two things: 1. Our rights come from God not from the govt. 2. Humans are power -hungry so we need to limit govt power. So the next time someone attacks the nation of one revolution that succeeded and recycles the the idea of those that miserably failed, you can ask them: are you ignorant, or malicious?

There’s nothing “insane” about this. Demographic change in the US has been very large and, while “rapid” is an imprecise modifier, “within one person’s lifetime” seems like a fair enough application of the term. Certainly not an “insane” characterization.

Today’s decision regarding birthright citizenship is a travesty. The Fourteenth Amendment was written to overturn Dred Scott and guarantee citizenship to freed slaves—not to create automatic citizenship for the children of those who violate our immigration laws or are only temporarily in the United States. This decision will only invite further exploitation of our immigration system. The Court adopted an interpretation that departs from the original meaning of the Constitution and incentivizes illegal immigration. Congress retains the authority to clarify federal law, and it should act immediately to restore the original meaning of the Citizenship Clause and protect the integrity of American citizenship.

I actually agree with this imam. The sharia penal code, the hudud, is barely 1% of Islamic sharia, and it isn’t even enforced in most Islamic countries. So the fear that Muslims are coming to impose amputations and stonings on America is overblown. But here is what the imam won’t tell you. Sharia is not mainly about the penal code, and the threat it poses to the West was never primarily violence or terrorism. The real danger is the erasure of individual liberty and religious freedom in any region that becomes heavily Muslim, because sharia governs the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims, and it enforces blasphemy norms either by law, as in Islamic states, or by fear and self-censorship everywhere else. By that measure, every single Islamic country on earth applies sharia. Not one of them permits full freedom of speech. Not one of them grants non-Muslims the same rights as Muslims. The penal code is the part they’ll debate with you. The erasure of your freedoms is the part they won’t.

To those on the right giving us the “It’s not a big deal, they just upheld the way birthright citizenship been interpreted for 100 years”… It is a big deal because the Democrats have been actively letting millions of people into the country illegally and this was our best chance to have this properly interpreted. The Trump administration made truly enormous concessions to the IRGC and it still escalated by attacking ships in Hormuz. This is entirely unsurprising to anyone who knows anything about the IRGC and the role of ideology in international politics.
