The courts need to create a new charge for this nonsense and it needs to carry a ridiculous penalty to match the ridiculous behavior. In addition to obstruction, resisting arrest and fleeing a scene, I suggest: Fraudulent conduct. Fraudulent in that you knowingly commit a crime and then knowingly force the PD to have to unnecessarily divert resources to attend to your idiotic bullshit for literally no reason whatsoever. The penalty should be the requirement to pay the additional officer’s salaries for the time it took them to apprehend you—plus a $2500 fine and 1 year in jail. No exceptions. Ever. I’m over the “I didn’t do nothing” bullshit. It’s way past time to start holding people accountable for their actions AND to the SAME STANDARDS AS EVERYONE ELSE. You can learn the hard way as far as I’m concerned. Enough.
