Thinking it would have been more appropriate for AI itself to be named the person of the year or persons depending on how you look at it. It would have shown a lot of courage and foresight to do that. And of course they could have made some adjustments to "person."
@ESYudkowsky I assume you've tried topamax, metformin, and naltrexone. If not, I'd look into these. Tirzepatide happens to work for me after trying many other meds and methods.
@SpencrGreenberg From 'Same As Ever' by Morgan Housel, I learned that some things in life are pretty much guaranteed to happen, and you should plan for them rather than pretend they won't.
@SpencrGreenberg Morgan Housel's 'Same As Ever' and 'Fluke' by Brian Klaas have to be a tie for this for me. I found it fascinating that both authors opened their books or shared in the beginning sections a personal anecdote that led them to really look into the ideas they further explored.
@RickWarren Hang in there. I heard about the tweet you deleted. You are right; the kingdom of God is not of this world and anybody who thinks differently is flat out wrong. I pray that those who bear the name of Christian wake up before it's too late.
I see post after post highlighting research, thought-provoking ideas, and questions about society, religion, philosophy, and politics. It was just what I needed to see today. Thank you to those of you who contribute to elevating the discourse here and everywhere you go online.
I got very disheartened yesterday after simply trying to read hurricane updates on Facebook. The vast number of replies to meteorologists that were related to insane conspiracy theories was shocking and disturbing. Then I spend just a few minutes here today, and
In spite of what Elon has managed to do to Twitter (er, X, if I must call it that), every time I visit here, I realize this is still one of the best places on the Internet to find people engaging in thoughtful conversations, sharing relevant research, and spreading ideas.
@Frostinthepines George Herbert, Wilfred Owen, Gerard Manley Hopkins, ee cummings, Anne Bradstreet, Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Bishop. Sorry! I could go on. Lol
@RandalRauser One of the most Unchristian places my husband ever worked at was a Christian college. He still hasn't gotten over it. The ironic thing is that when he came in and interviewed etc he was rated superior for teaching. But it was a reformed nightmare.
