There's a phrase in this @endform_dev piece, that’s worth noting. Calling well-written end-to-end tests "executable memory." Months after they were written, those tests describe what the team considered important enough to protect, which workflows mattered, and which assumptions held when the product was last shipped. Reading that reframes a lot of conversations about whether to encode behavior in code or hand it to an AI agent at runtime. A test you committed eighteen months ago still tells you what the team meant by "checkout works," even after everyone who wrote it has moved on. Product novelty is one of the first things we evaluate during lead qualification. Even before we look at funding or team size, we want to understand whether the product gives developers a reason to switch. But what does product novelty mean to us? It means solving a problem in a way existing tools do not. Here is how you can test it yourself. Can you describe your product as: "Our product is the only [category] that has [unique capability], solving [specific problems] for [ICP] in a way others cannot." If that statement is difficult for you to complete, the product probably lacks novelty. Novelty matters more in devtools because developers have plenty of options. They adopt products that remove a painful workflow, solve a problem existing tools ignore, or deliver an outcome your competitors cannot. If the product is not novel, marketing has to do the work of creating a reason to care, and that is a problem.

Almost 88% of MCP servers need authentication to external services. Only 8.5% of them implement it properly. That gap is the current situation of MCP security right now. This @doppler article gets into why this keeps happening. The short version is that MCP authentication operates across two layers that look similar from the outside but solve completely different problems. Layer 1 is how the AI client talks to the MCP server, which is where OAuth 2.1 and the official authorization spec mostly live. Layer 2 is how the MCP server talks to GitHub, your database, AWS, and every other backend it actually needs credentials for. The spec doesn't really cover that part, and that's where the static tokens end up.
