@caitoz Netanyahu said defeating Hamas should take precedence over a hostage deal. "Defeating Hamas" is his top priority. Versus: Netanyahu has been fairly transparent about the fact that Israel’s ultimate goal in Gaza is neither freeing the hostages "nor defeating Hamas." Defeat Hamas.

The case of Bernie Madoff foreshadowed what is going on now with federal payments. He got away with his scheme for 17 years by claiming that the trading desk and accounting records were necessarily super secret. No one could have access, not even his adult sons, for fear of compromising data and in the interest of customer privacy. This is EXACTLY the same excuse we are getting from the defenders of leviathan and massive financial fraud today. Because of a court decision on appeal, DOGE is permitted now only severely limited access to US Treasury payment systems, which has been controlled by a tiny number of non-elected and non-appointed permanent secret elite since 1946. Bernie stole $64 billion. The US government has spent $198 trillion since they closed the books to independent or voter-accountable outsiders.

I keep hearing whispers that Trump is acting like a "tyrant" but this is sloppy and ahistorical thinking. The powers he is using and the orders he is issuing are mostly aimed at government power: guaranteeing free speech, stopping legal privileging, stopping spending and hiring and regulating, and even stopping the use of government power to use demographics to manipulate elections. This is what the president is SUPPOSED to do according to the Constitution. He is supposed to be the manager of executive agencies. That no one has done this so aggressively in 100-plus years just shows you how lame have been the people elected to this position.

@AP4Liberty Fair points. I don't know much about Chase Oliver but I think his views on tariffs, taxes, and regulations are not bad. (What is a type of an embargo on domestic laborers and consumers, raising the costs of doing business for importers who pass these added costs onto end-buyers?)

@KyleBrandt Very bad take regarding Peacock. It's about forcing fans to cough up extra $MONEY$ and a terrible incentive it gives the NFL to move closer toward PPV. Inflation is already crushing regular folks.
