Spark was everywhere. @databricks was making less than $1M a year. @pwendell, co-founder and VP of Engineering at Databricks, says the company had a few rough years where the open source project was taking off and the business wasn't. So they built something you could only get from Databricks. A managed service is, by definition, something you can't open source. And by the time it existed, Spark had already done the hard part of getting people to care. Open source wasn't the product. It was the top of the funnel. When building with the Hex Agent, you can now: →Stick with 'Ask for approval' mode and the agent will pause before consequential actions, like deleting cells or publishing an app. → Choose 'Skip approvals' mode and the agent works straight through without pausing for confirmation on every edit. Some people want the answer. Some want to see how it was built 👀 This or That with Benjamin Lee (Engineering Lead at Hex) and Amy Ru (Product Manager at LangChain). Same answer, same thread, but one of them wants to see the mechanics of the logic chain, how it was built, and why. Turns out that's a favorite feature in Notebook Agent.
