Today, we, the Airport Advisory Committee members, held a meeting with airport officials to discuss the landscaping plan for Hubli Airport. We invited Mr. P. V. Hiremath of Eco Village, who has successfully executed numerous landscaping projects across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The objective is to have him work closely with the airport contractor's landscaping team so that the project benefits from his expertise and incorporates landscaping that reflects our local climate, environment, and regional character. Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS mixed lane should be renamed as "humps lane". Rubber humps laid opp Police Commissioner's office is the recent addition. A few months ago, there was an accident at this spot. Traffic Police then placed barricades in a zig zag manner here and on BRTS lane opp to this office. Police received backlash from public as well as Chigari bus drivers as these barricades caused traffic congestion (Prajavani link is shared). Now, the newly installed humps are causing traffic congestion. Another illogical decision that has created a new problem instead of solving one. I don't know if authorities in Hubballi-Dharwad intentionally neglect IRC standards while laying humps. I'm not sure who laid this humps? Since BRTS owns this road, BRTS might have laid it on the recommendation of police. If this is true, I would say BRTS authorities are biggest hypocrites. For my grievance, they said they are awaiting funds from DULT to redesign the unscientific humps laid across BRTS corridor. Yet, they had sufficient funds to lay this rubber hump. Who approves such hump designs on main roads? Does these authorities know rubber humps are used inside malls, apartments etc, not on main roads? Police Department is responsible for enforcing road safety. If this hump was installed on their recommendation, on what basis was a rubber hump opposite Commissioner's Office considered appropriate? The incident occurred between Jubilee Circle and Court Circle, one of the city’s busy traffic stretches, under the jurisdiction of the Dharwad Traffic Police Station. The rider, identified as Sumer (20), allegedly performed reckless wheeling on a Kawasaki KLX motorcycle, endangering the lives of motorists and pedestrians. Acting on the incident, traffic police seized the motorcycle and registered a case against the rider. Videos of the dangerous stunt are now widely circulating on social media, drawing criticism over reckless riding on public roads. I got the response from SWR for my grievance regarding lack of streetlights in the newly built underpass at Karnataka University (LC 399) and waterlogging at Haliyal Road underpass (LC 400) in Dharwad. SWR said, "Electrical wiring work has been completed, installation of electric poles is under progress" for KUD underpass. For Haliyal Road underpass, SWR said, "proper gradient/drain gratings and its curing are in progress" for Dharwad end carriageways.
