Robots don’t have an internet of physical experience. A rare factory failure can be too dangerous, expensive, or disruptive to reproduce in the real world. Simulation matters because it can generate failures that haven’t happened yet, and let a robot learn before they do. The benchmark isn’t photorealism. It’s whether the success/failure boundaries learned in simulation still hold on real hardware. That’s the promise and the unresolved test of spatial intelligence. The SK Hynix wick on Hyperliquid wasn’t just a bad print. It was a live stress test for HIP-3 RWA perps. What happened: 1. Oracle cascade: An anomalous NXT pre-market trade in Korea (KRW 1.272M, -29.96%) was picked up by @tradexyz's external oracle, pulling the $SKHX mark price down and triggering mass liquidations. 2. Backstop exhaustion: Unlike Hyperliquid’s HLP, each HIP-3 DEX relies on an independent backstop. Community estimates suggest XYZ’s backstop absorbed roughly 27.1K $SKHX longs across 406 accounts (~$26.3M notional). As losses mounted, its own inventory was liquidated, forcing Auto Deleveraging (ADL) as the final circuit breaker. 3. Asymmetric outcomes: Market orders were constrained outside oracle bounds, while resting limit bids could capture the dislocation. One labeled wallet reportedly earned ~$2.2M through ADL. Key takeaways: RWA perp risk goes far beyond stock price direction. It is also about oracle reliability, outlier filtering, backstop capitalization and ADL mechanics. Permissionless HIP-3 markets do not inherit HLP protection by default. Building the “house of all finance” will require stronger circuit breakers and transparent postmortems, and a continuous error → correction loop.
