The FIFA World Cup Final is now just a few hours away. It really does feel like a match between a classic unstoppable force vs an immovable object. Spain’s case is compelling. They have been the most consistent team in the tournament, playing cohesive, possession based football, conceding very few quality chances and extending their remarkable unbeaten run in open play to 37 matches (lost to Portugal in Penalties during Nations League 25). They also looked convincing against France, showing they can dominate another elite side. Argentina, however, has made a habit of surviving. Their path to the final has been full of late comebacks and Lionel Messi has once again been decisive in the biggest moments, creating chances and inspiring the team when it matters most. Calling it individual brilliance isn’t entirely unfair, but it also overlooks how resilient and mentally strong this Argentina side has been throughout the tournament. Though, I don’t have personal preferences as my favourite team isn’t playing, but I will root for Spain who are representing a brilliantly coordinated collective unit, though Argentina offers experience, resilience and one of football’s greatest players chasing another World Cup triumph. What a wonderful coincidence, it’s rained on the day we inaugurated a Water ATM Booth. This is the second Water ATM Booth to be inaugurated after the one at Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai. The facility will provide safe, nutrient enriched drinking water at just Rs 10 for a 20 litre jar, making it far more affordable than the market price of around Rs 50 per jar. I have already proposed setting up another such booth at either Wahengbam Leikai or Kangabam Leikai, depending on the availability of suitable space. Sagolband is already benefiting from a regular drinking water supply following the commissioning of the Sagolband Tera Overhead Water Reservoir, which has strengthened the existing water distribution system. We are also constructing another 24×7 Water Reservoir at Bijoy Govinda, the first of its kind in Manipur which will serve as a pilot project for continuous water supply. Ensuring access to safe drinking water remains a priority, and we will continue working towards expanding such facilities for the benefit of the public. #ProgressForAll #SagolbandMarchingAhead @narendramodi

Go to Leikai was a scheme organised in 2022-23, which ensured governance reaching the doorstep of the people of Sagolband in their respective localities. It’s been always difficult for people to avail basic benefits and facilities from the government, thus our aim was to provide such facilities in each leikai/locality. For the past 14 years, I have published a yearly report card of all development works undertaken in Sagolband, including those funded through the MLA Local Area Development Fund (MLA LADF). Sharing an update for the year 2019 for the first 7 years of works taken up. I have consistently shared these report cards with the people of Sagolband and Manipur because I believe that transparency and accountability are essential when entrusted with public service. Accountability should not be an exception, it should be the standard. Every representative owes the people a clear account of the work carried out with public resources. Change begins somewhere. The Go to Leikai scheme was launched in July 2022, immediately after the Assembly Election, with the objective of ensuring that the benefits and services of both the Central and State Governments reach the people in their respective localities. Over the course of the year, we conducted 12 such programmes across various localities, aiming to deliver the maximum possible government facilities and services directly to the people’s doorsteps. Serving the people is not limited to any particular period, it is a commitment that continues throughout all five years of our tenure. As highlighted in our previous updates and initiatives, healthcare continues to remain one of our top priorities. To bring quality healthcare closer to the people, we have been organizing a monthly Special Health Camp across different localities of Sagolband. The camp was conducted at Paona Bazaar today, which provided a range of free healthcare services, including OPD consultations, dental check-ups, blood tests, AYUSH services, breast and cervical cancer screening for women, eye check-ups, free medicines and more. Since its inception in 2022, this initiative has been successfully conducted under the supervision of UPHC Sagolband, in collaboration with the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee and Mandal members. Our goal is simple, to ensure that every resident has access to essential healthcare services right at their doorstep. Previous camps have been successfully held at Meino Leirak and Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi, and we look forward to reaching another locality very soon. The FIFA World Cup Round of 16 matchups really do make the bracket exciting. The expanded tournament has already produced plenty of surprises, and with teams like Germany and the Netherlands already out, the path to the trophy feels much more open than many expected. I agree that Portugal vs Spain stands out as the headline tie. Portugal haven’t been convincing so far, but they have enough individual quality to beat anyone if they click. Spain, on the other hand, have looked more balanced and consistent. If I had to pick, I’d lean Spain, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Portugal produced their best performance of the tournament. As for my favourite team Brazil, they are facing Norway, that’s another fascinating game. Norway, led by Erling Haaland, can punish any defensive mistake. Brazil, though, have so much attacking talent that if they control possession and avoid giving Haaland space, they’d deserve to be favorites. It feels like one of those matches where Brazil’s performance level will matter more than Norway’s. The other dark horses are definitely worth watching too, Morocco have already shown they can knock out big European sides. Colombia have the quality and confidence to make a deep run. Tournament favourites France have had an easy Round of 32 test, while Argentina survived a difficult match against Cape Verde. England had to struggle to get past their match too, before a Harry Kane master class ensured the victory. Champions often have to win ugly before finding their best form, and my top contenders would be France, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, England and Portugal, with a hope that my favourite team Brazil will lift the 6th World Cup. So guys whom are you backing to win the World Cup? Which team are you supporting? #FIFAWorldCup

Our Health scheme under the MLA Ana Layengi Tengbang initiative continues to stand by the people during their most challenging times. Since its launch in May 2022, the scheme has been providing Rs 20,000/ per family to support the treatment of patients suffering from kidney, heart, and cancer-related ailments. Six more families have received this assistance, with more than 350 families receiving assistance in total. Our commitment is to ensure that families receive timely support when they need it the most. We believe that standing together during difficult times strengthens our community and brings hope to those facing serious health challenges. Another beautiful day filled with positive thoughts. The day became even more special with the visit of Shri Irengbam Nobokumar from Moirang Leirak to my residence. A respected elder, he has always inspired us to work for the welfare of the people and to uphold positive values. His unwavering support, guidance, and blessings have always been with us, and I remain truly grateful for his encouragement and wisdom.

Road infrastructure improvements are progressing steadily across Sagolband. After a brief pause due to the rains, blacktopping works have resumed, with the current focus on Thangjam Leirak. This will be followed by the stretch from Nepra Menjor to Sayang. FDR (Full Depth Reclamation) works will also commence soon at Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai and Wahengbam Leikai, further strengthening the road network. #ProgressForAll #SagolbandMarchingAhead

It is truly heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of the people after the successful completion of the construction of retaining walls and beautification of the pond at Wahengbam Leikai. Over the years, several important development projects have been undertaken at Wahengbam Leikai. During this term, we successfully completed the Library building at the club premises, a double storey Community Hall, a School Building, along with a double storey Recreation Hall in my previous term. These initiatives reflect our shared commitment to improving the quality of life for our people.
